We hope Angel dies. We don't care if he gets a spinoff 😭😭

Someone said something that I can't understand therefore they are "Insert generic online buzzword here." Triggered I mean.

Shawn Brink

That is not a floppy disk. A floppy disk was actually floppy not hard.

Shawn Brink

dang, i decided to read the comments before i posted and there's some shit relevant to my point! being genre savvy can change how you react to stuff. having experience on the media production side can change how you react to stuff. my original thought was about how audiences have changed in a post-game of thrones landscape, how its much easier for your average viewer to spot character deaths being telegraphed in the narrative and how people can only process so much brutality on screen. but i also would like to point out that laughter is an emotional release. people laugh when they're uncomfortable, when they're scared, when they're in pain. i've seen a lot of that last one doing massage therapy.

mariko 真利子

i shan't watch s4 of angel: both for the garbage in front of the scenes and their causal effed up behind the scenes. but s2 of angel has, including MCU DCU ALL-THE-U, my f a v o r i t e superhero moment ever filmed/thought up/created. i ought to make a shrine for that moment. i meannn people tell me "you're not a candidate for the serum!" "you're team killmonger" "you're team magneto" but THEY ARE RIGHT?!?!?! god. just thinking of the s2 moment fills my soul with puppies of joy.

Pate

I really, really hope you watch the spin off.

Henry Wallace

I don't rewatch either of them so sometimes get them confused. When everyone was getting their eggs in Bad Eggs I was wondering when the swimming was going to start 🤣

WineCheeseGoats

It's not that I as a patron want them to cry or be overdramatic, I think its just there are so many of them watching at once and they like to talk over and make jokes to eachother that it just ends up being distracting and undercuts the more emotional or quiet moments sometimes. Like the fact that they could not just watch the scene where buffy punches a distraught Giles and then hugs him, they were talking and joking right before that instead of just watching the scene play out. Its not a question of age but of just watching the show for all its worth and reserving making jokes or talking at some points to just WATCH teh show and also let others on the couch watch it too. I think its a matter of who is a right 'fit' for a show. Its not their fault for knowing in advance bc obviously we do, but for Ex. i think Marketa is a great fit for Buffy bc she pays attention, is quiet and focused when she watches things and is thoughtful and would have good insight into the characters. Conversely I do not enjoy her watching the Office. I feel like the other guys on the Buffy couch are a way better fit for the Office bc its all joke after joke after joke and its also crude cringe humor that they would find funny and not get awkward watching where they won't even laugh.

Edo

Lol

K Murray

K.

Jaren

Nobody's talking about crying

K Murray

I’d rather them react naturally than perform. If they don’t cry then they don’t cry. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Jaren

Bad eggs wants to talk. Lol

Jaren

It’s not a question of the age of the viewers but of perspective. There’s a reason why this show still holds the record for the highest number of academic studies about it.

Vicky N

They were shocked and sad by Jenny's death. What more do you want? If you were expecting them to be sobbing messes like when you watched it as teenagers, it's not going to happen because 1)they're adults and 2)they've watched shows that are far darker and violent where characters they love were killed regularly! Buffy's great but it's general comic tone and humor undercutting dramatic moments make it hard sometimes to treat like seriously by people over 25.

Luvimian

Go Fish is the true worst episode of the show.

Allison

I’m sure they’ll find it hilarious and miss the subtleties and metaphors as they always do

TheyCallMeJeff

Sigh... I think I might be out. I've already griped enough in the youtube comments, so won't repeat. But just not what I'm looking for in a Buffy reaction. lol maybe I'll come back in a year for 5x16 🤣

loopkill

Seriously...

Ash Lee Can

Or perhaps they seem to enjoy both aspects. Just because they love the heavy camp, despite it not being the popular aspect that fans love of the first 2 seasons, doesn't mean they don't enjoy the seriousness, which they've discussed and seem to really love. They seem to like the mixing of both...

Ash Lee Can

It sounded like sarcasm to me, referencing another show / death I wasn’t aware of from something I didn’t watch. If it wasn’t sarcasm, then I apologise.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Cory is right. At the time this episode aired it was really shocking because you didn't see that sort of thing in prime time network television. Tasha Yar's death in Star Trek: TNG was almost as shocking but she was killed by a random monster of the week and bad writing. I can't think of any network shows at the time where a good character turns evil and kills another established character. Long story short, Cory wasn't mocking you.

Chaos T

How are they mocking you? They literally agreed with you.

JTorch

Wooooo another great and complex episode, ups and downs, laughs and tears, and seeing everyone just as confused and indenial about a soap opera 90s highscool vampire show lol, brought me back, funny to watch.... all this just makes the finale much more complex, lol lol

Ricardo Obregon

I do kind of agree. Kind of. I'm not that annoyed by it to the point of calling them "fucked up" lol but i do think them joking about everything does go overboard sometimes, it doesn't have to be joke joke joke, meme meme meme all the time. I think it'd be nicer if they did treat the serious moments as, well, serious. Even the editors are putting literal memes into the reaction now lol. But it is what it is. I'm still overall entertained by their reactions, but i do understand some people's frustrations.

Shockzz1234

I can't even understand being this triggered over a show and fictional characters. That's a hard life.

Sickleweed

bro relax its just a show and the way buffy hit him was funny it aint that deep

Udaii Muhtaseb

They specifically talked about that though.

Rufus May

bye

Trey Milliner-Williams

They were just reacting to Buffy punching Giles. Rana did go "aww" when she hugged him.

Luvimian

I’m not sure if this is meant to be mocking me, but for me as a teen it was pretty shocking. If it wasn’t for you, then fair enough, but my experience is valid to me.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Jesus christ. The lack of empathy (giggling and laughing during Giles breakdown and Buffy consoling him) and lack of insight (Angelus does NOT want to kill Buffy right now, that's not his goal, he wants to destroy her, etc). That's really fucked up. See ya.

Pontus Olin

The monologue Angelus shares sums up the episodes major themes and ties it into the season arc really well Giles says to Buffy at the beginning of the episode she shouldn’t “give into (her) passions” and chase after Angel… meanwhile when something equally upsetting happens to Giles he immediately discards his own advice and chases down Angel recklessly The major theme of season 2 is acting with integrity when faced with upsetting choices. Making adult decisions Vampires are the opposite of mature adults, they let their passions rule them and through this season we’ve seen Buffy make harder and harder decisions or meet foes who make easy decisions that hurt others Great writing

For sure. Data never went evil for more than an episode, and definitely never killed Deanna Troi and left her body in Riker's quarters. This kind of thing just did not happen in 1998, or before. This isn't even the same show we started watching.

Cory Garron

Take that Janna. What, you think you were Jenny Calendar now? Mwahahahahahaha!

Cory Garron

This was so shocking (to me seeing as people seem to have a problem with me not clarifying this) on original airing, especially as they showed her dead body on the bed. I remember how shocked I was. I love this emotional music score for this episode. It really adds to it.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Something to keep in mind. Angel was a duel being. A demon and a human soul, where the soul had control over the body for the last 80 years. Angelus, the demon part of him, was also known even to the Master to be one of the most vicious vampires to have existed. The name Angelus is actually legend, if you go back and see the previous mentions of it, you will be reminded of that. Still, I never get over poor Jenny. You should watch Domi's reaction to this episode. She spent all the previous episodes claiming she never cries over shows. Then Jenny dies and she's in stone cold denial for quite a while, then it's like 45 minutes of inconsolable crying. Jenny just has a way of getting people to love her so much in such a short period of time.

Jordan Haddow

oooooooh, baby witch's first spell. sigh cute

rickie woodson

I'm fucking dead (like Jenny) that Micky is in such denial. Poor thing. RIP Jenny.

Alicia

It's almost like he's a villain and you're supposed to hate him. RIP Jenny

Tim Pierce

Or the episodes written by Des Hotel & Batali, which always seems to me the weaker episodes for the most part.

TheyCallMeJeff

lol why do I have the feeling they’ll like “go fish” more than other episodes going forward. Seems like they’re leaning towards the camp as opposed to the emotional/critical character beats

Selena

So Toxic Angel is not your cup of tea anymore? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Stephen Mintac

yeah there are a lot of terrible people on this show but for some reason I have always disliked angel the most lol

Sam

Angelus wants to break Buffy down. He wants to absolutely demolish her mentally and emotionally, which is his pattern from past kills like Drusilla. He wants to take everything away from her and isolate her. Angelus is playing the long game cause his thrill is the torture versus Spike, who would thrive on the kill. There is a method to Angelus' madness.

hannemanart

cold feet = sick so nah mickey boo, i cant do that. but i will do an exposed tigh, but not really since its my right side and i sleep on my right. i just keep the arms and neck up area exposed, like buffy. wish i could sleep on my back. sigh. one day

rickie woodson

did it bore them? i dont remember that

Unstablebeast

they said it bored them? they seemed to have had a ball with it. i know i watched that reaction twice. they were really into the ep, mad fire

rickie woodson

you are watching that spinoff and you will love it. especially season 2 aka the best season though season 3 is fire too. besides, tons of cross over in season 1.......and just to keep this in the back of your minds: wolverine, black widow, rogue, hulk are all characters yall love who were villains. they have killed and maimed. hulk has leveled towns and destroyed a world. if redemption is for them, its for everyone #nohypocrisy #grace #redemption #rehibilitation

rickie woodson

No going back after this one!! 😩

Jaren

Well, let's hope they dig this one after Innocence bored them
