2022-08-25 23:06:31 +0000 UTCThis episode was really where the show stepped up and we the audience realised that this was not just some silly vampire show, but one addressing very real things that people go through in life, but presented through fantasy. Buffy & Angel were so huge and this happening was a huge shock at the time. It’s also where Sarah really shows her acting range. You feel that devastation. Plus David B plays these two dramatically different characters brilliantly. It’s still one of the most exciting and emotional episodes of TV for me. And Giles at the end as her surrogate father always brings a lump to my throat. I love that relationship. Glad Rana was here for this too. The only disappointment is seeing Pat seemingly enjoying a woman being emotionally humiliated by a man. Liking Angelus as a great villain is one thing, revelling in him hurting her is quite another.

He's carried the burden of the soul for 100 years (1898-1998) but still had the demon (and its various strengths, weaknesses, and desires), which made for a constant internal conflict. So 145 years with a demon but no soul = normal (but extra cruel and vicious) demon Cursed 100 years with both demon and soul Now present (well January 1998)

He's smooth because he has so much more time on earth to be in relationships. I don't mind underage sex between people of the same age if it's tasteful and non-pornographic. Many of us do it; that's what I did in high school. Art reflects reality and all that. But not when the couple's mental age and emotional maturity are so far apart.

I get that breaks are important but there has got to be a way to plan the schedule appropriately when you have so much notice. Even if there's a week delay I'd rather have a full couch for the few big moment episodes. I hope in the future they listen to our recommendations.
