2022-08-04 01:32:44 +0000 UTCHello, this is Dustin the editor! I just want to talk about Kita for a bit. He's one of my favorite characters in the whole show (and I really don't like Inarizaki lmao). Like Rahsaan said, I think Kita is coded to be neurodivergent, possibly somewhere on the autism spectrum. The way that he is direct in his communication and his emphasis on order and routine, but always caring of others are pretty clear signs of neurodivergence. I love how his character is respected amongst his teammates and is given the space to be himself. That he is an actually great player I think shows that neurodivergent people are just as capable as anyone else at their skills, and that he is chosen as captain shows the care and regard that he and his teammates have for each other. I have absolutely no idea if he was "meant" to be seen this way.It's just something I've always seen in his characterization, and it's personally my favorite representation of neurodivergence that I've seen on TV.

Very few people do that, much less from such a young age...especially to the point of cleaning the group bathroom on a regular basis.
