Networks were willing to "take risks" and produce entertainment showing gay character relationships because it was politically convenient for them.

If a handful of relationships are worth more than a non-white cast member then that's a shitty choice on their part. Even more frustrating considering that the writing staff showed they were willing to challenge the network with their gay character's relationships

The entire film was brightened in post because Warner wanted a lighter, brighter look to the film. Due to time constraints Whedon had to shoot on digital while Snyder's footage was shot on film, additionally Snyder's footage was very dark and contrast-y, requiring a lot of work to bring the two closer together visually and none of that was even handled by Whedon.
