And, as Chidi makes clear, some people might never get in to the Good Place, even after who knows how many rounds of testing, but that's ok because at least they were given a fair shake.

The medium place idea was scrapped, and Chidi came up with a system that is very similar to what Rana described. People will get judged, and then get put in a neighborhood and tortured in the same way that the Main Four were, until they eventually become better people and can go to the Good Place. The torture will just be more psychological and not just physical mutilation and butt spiders.
