What a peculiar statement! That's like saying, if you're calling the ocean blue, then I don't know what you would call the sky. Also blue? Generic shoenen like DBZ, FMA, MHA, Naruto also start off as as generic shoenen series and for the most part remain as such whereas AoT starts diverging. AoT starts off as classic shoenen - headstrong, hot-blooded protagonist with a tragic backstory that undergoes a hero journey. Initially the underdog but realizes some power to turn the tide of battle. Yes, AoT starts to do certain things differently, but those elements creep up on you slowly and it's not until Season 2/3 where it finally clicks there's more to it. You may have picked up on it sooner, but it doesn't mean everyone else will. It's one thing if they don't realize it when they get to Season 4, but the show has many layers and the subversion of expectations is not immediately evident.

If you're calling AOT an anime that starts off as a generic one, then I don't know what you call Shonen like MHA, Naruto, Boruto, DS, and, JJK since, for me, it was obvious from AOT's atmosphere, the world-building, and the build-up that was given to it by all the other aspects of the show that this ain't a generic one, unlike others that I mentioned, even though I've genuinely enjoyed watching most of them. But whatever. You see AOT differently and I will try to let them BE.

Show me on the d̶o̶l̶l̶ video where the b̶a̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶ silly group t̶o̶u̶c̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ made you want to puke lol But seriously, part of the appeal of this show is the fact that it starts off as a generic over-the-top shoenen series that ends up flipping the script. Many people don’t take it very seriously in the beginning, even in Season 2, but that’s part of the magic as it’s usually these early skeptics that end up enjoying the show the most. It goes from people thinking the show takes itself too seriously to them realizing they didn't take it serious enough. The show also has its fair share of light-hearted & fun moments along with a lot of WTF, absurd, and over-dramatic scenes that’s just gonna take even serious watchers out of immersion anyways. And to be honest, telling people to pay more attention at any given point has a chance to spoil things as it may draw attention to certain details that may not have seemed significant. As someone who has re-watched the show a few times with first-time watchers and also hosted weekly watch parties for Season 4 with anime-onlies, I see nothing wrong with how Suraj is handling the situation. Let people be.

They are literally laughing and playing around most of the time and missing so many dialogues. But unlike me, you are fine with it, and prefer to watch their "entertaining" interactions with each other, or Suraj doing silly stuff as if this is a freak show rather than their reactions to the show. They find something funny and just doesn't stop laughing it off while the show is running for itself. This wasn't the case when they were watching the first season for the most part. So don't talk to me like this is the first reaction I've seen from them, Mr. funny.

Dan Heki

The irony of talking about overreacting while you're here claiming that you're gonna puke just because people aren't "reacting" the way you want them to? What a shitty take. You seem fun at parties. It's certainly different from the sub group, but enjoying the reactions from this group as well. The banter between them is great and it makes it all the more entertaining. Not everyone consumes media the same way so no need to take it so personally when someone cracks a joke or is being skeptical.

Kinnell Shah

That’s a lot of emotion lmao

The quality difference between the sub group and the dub one is immeasurable. It feels like I'm gonna puke. Talking and whining and nagging about nearly every single damn scene, or either make fun of it while the show is running and overreacting to them (like Conny's scene or when Levi was talking to Eren) which results in not paying enough attention to the show even in the slightest. Ruining so many great moments of the show like that. I was expecting Suraj to try to make them focus more on the content whereas he's more into doing silly things. Really disappointed. Compared to season 1 this is a huge drop in quality. Really felt sorry for the money I payed

Dan Heki

Lol thought Suraj warned Nikki to expect a similar level of confusion that she got during the Lost and Dark reactions. The Good Place, and season 1 of Titan had her feeling too comfortable. It's time to titan bring her back to her roots.

Kamina 1

Not today, no.

3 more then everything changes

MojoJojoGojo

I just want them to end season 4 as a manga reader there just dragging along an ending up til this point

MojoJojoGojo

Dude if they cut the scenes, I am gonna go join Russia and march towards Japan.

PKS

From what manga readers say there is no way they can wrap up the remaining chapters in just one episode. People are saying there is going to be a movie to finish the series off

AnEnthusiasticKoala

Not only that, the next episode is the last one.

I wasn't expecting the week-break from AoT season 4, it threw me off. Wonder if we should be expecting a movie afterwards or Season 4 Part 3 lol
