2021-10-26 09:16:40 +0000 UTCPersonally I really enjoy the dub, the unique traits of each of the voice actors really shine through to me, when it comes to Bryce voicing Eren I think the level of cocky in normal speech combined with edge and angst in his anger is a perfect fit actually, especially for season one eren who had extreme anger and fought off his extreme temper. My next biggest favorite would be armin, I think in English his screams are raw, lethal, and insane, exactly how screaming from pure despair should sound. When it comes to Armin’s japanese voice, the actor did very well but in my personal opinion sounds too much like a young girl at times, I think the voice actor in Japan was actually associated with female hentai roles too.

Lol thankfully it hasn't taken away from the quality of the reaction. We come for you guys, not to re-watch the show. So long as Nikki, Pat, and Rana aren't bothered by the dub it's all good. Suraj is going to struggle with this the most since his preference is the Japanese voice actors.

2021-10-25 20:14:34 +0000 UTC@Dead_pool, disagree. *spoilers* Eren is hardest on himself, that bone-deep anger comes from a feeling of being useless against the inevitable, the overwhelming, the horrifying. He cares more than any other character in the show, and that comes off as aggressive, but between an outside influence (spoilers) and his own righteous indignation, I find him less angsty teen and more murderous child turned tragic murderer. Nuance is everything and the dub actor doesn’t offer that for me, unlike Yuki Kaji.

Some of the dub actors give performances that I actually prefer or find on par with the sub, but not the main character. Yuki Kaji has so much agony, grief, and nuance to Eren, especially as the show progresses, and it’s truly a career high performance for a god tier VA. The dub just makes Errn sound… whiny. Angsty. Constantly angry, and not the deep kind of anger. More so than the sub or the manga ever did, and it makes you lose a lot of empathy for the character.
