That Niki chick is the worst reactor on the Normies. Brings nothing to the table. Listen to any of her Normie spiel's about joining the social media accounts, it is the least genuine reactor spiel you will ever find. Her analysis is crap and she thinks being a contrarian is cool for some reason.

2021-10-05 06:23:30 +0000 UTC@Mo Ah, no apologies necessary. I clearly don’t like being considered a mindless and unempathetic or illogical fanboy - no one does - but you honestly didn’t know so it’s alright. Ultimately… I admit you are correct; all that matters is whether or not THEY are enjoying the show. I think they really are. (: Sorry if I came off somewhat intense, friend.

2021-08-18 04:41:46 +0000 UTCAh I see. In that case I'd like to apologize for lumping you in the same category as those crazy Oikawa fans. And if I'm being honest I've only seen up to S3 of the show so I'm not sure if his character changes that much. But it's something I've noticed alot in YouTube/Patreon comments for other anime. Also while I get that they're dislike may seem unreasonable, like I said before, its still their opinion and might even change over time. (They weren't that harsh to him in this I honestly only care if they're enjoying the show, but if their biased characterization of him bothers you that much then I dont know what else to say....😕

2021-08-18 02:50:19 +0000 UTC@Mo, for starters, you keep saying “ya’ll” like I am somehow a part of that toxic (and often illiterate) group of fan girls that just calls Oikawa the King and proceeds to profanely lambast the Normies for ever saying otherwise.. ouch. From my comment above, that’s clearly not the case. Beyond not liking people who spoil development, I just find that whole mindset gross and would prefer to not be associated. I’m making an actual argument about how the Normies have time and again misinterpreted a pretty dynamic but by no means hard to understand character, when the exact opposite of their negative hot-take’s are literally spelled out for them. Repeatedly. There are numerous examples of this pointed out on youtube, it’s not an exaggeration. Then you say people only like him with the benefit of hindsight. …What? To piggyback off what HeavenlyR is saying, what hindsight?! Lol. Everything that one needed to know about Oikawa to like him was presented to us in the first season and I (and most of my friends who’ve seen the show) were on board before we even finished S1. I firmly believe if you don’t like Oikawa by the end of S2, odds are you never will because he stays the same with relatively less screen time in this season. And it’s okay if they don’t like Oikawa! Understand me; It. Is. Okay. But you’re missing my argument - How is it justifiable to dislike a character for reasons you are making up in your head, flying contrary to information provided in the actual show? It’s not rocket science to see why logical fans of the show, regardless of ‘liking’ Oikawa, are frustrated. 🤷🏻♂️

2021-08-18 00:50:45 +0000 UTCHow does Oikawa's character change from season 1 to season 2-4 that can be spoiled, he didn't get some exponential growth like (we all know who I'm talking about) did. It doesn't take hindsight to know that Oikawa isn't a selfish player when he's literally monologuing about how Kageyama shouldn't be a selfish player in his head. He'd literally go "It's bad to try and do everything yourself and not get your teammates involved Kageyama" and they'd go "no u"

2021-08-17 22:00:23 +0000 UTCI don't think they are over-exaggerating Normies dislike for Oikawa. In the episode where Ushijima essentially says that Oikawa makes his teammates better and that he can do so for anyone and should have been playing for a better team; Suraj states (not an exact quote) that Oikawa can't play with other players very well, he can only play at his best with his current team. This was in complete contrast to everything the show had established about Oikawa. They are extremely biased against him, and unfortunately, that is a fact. They only see the negative of anything he does, whereas the show makes it a point to show both sides.

2021-08-17 21:49:10 +0000 UTCWell from what they've watched so far, I don't blame the Normies for looking at Oikawa in a negative light. Right now Oikawa just comes off as kind of a arrogant douche who seems jealous of his protege's natural talent. And that's okay opinions can change over time. However, I feel like you and the other Patrons are over-exaggerating about the Normies dislike for Oikawa. Something a lot of people on here fail to grasp is that we have the benefit of hindsight and we know how his character gets better. (Something yall felt the need to unnecessarily spoil by the way.) Given what they knew about him at the time their characterization of him as a villain was warranted.

2021-08-17 21:03:10 +0000 UTCNo, @Mo. It’s understandable for people to be annoyed about them completely misinterpreting his character. It’s okay not to like someone, obviously. 🙄 But that’s provided they at least grasp who it is they’re disliking and why. They unfortunately did not, and no one from their internal team (editors to mods to discord?) has disabused them of their self-perpetuating false information. They have repeatedly maligned his talent and downplayed his positive attributes that other characters have repeatedly vocalized and praised, which is odd. Then even assigning his few strengths like teamwork and camaraderie to Kageyama, and inversely putting Kageyama’s faults (his ego, inability to be selfless on the court) on Oikawa’s shoulders because of ‘trauma’ and ‘bullying’ that never happened. Like… the show literally spells out who is what and why. Oikawa is not a saint, but he’s clearly not the villain they cartoonishly paint him to be. I genuinely love the Normies, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with calling them out when they completely misinterpret a character due to bias. They’re a reaction channel and people are going to criticize their reaction. It sucks that there are so many rabid and illiterate fans out there spewing toxic vitriol over an anime character, I agree! But it happens for every show. In this case, it just makes for a frustrating reaction. Other reactors have seen and disliked Oikawa, and that’s perfectly fine because they at least got where he was coming from and didn’t butcher his character with their own head canon. It’s ultimately a matter of principle, I suppose.

2021-08-17 18:03:32 +0000 UTCThey might as well have said that with how annoying you all were being because the Normies "didn't understand Oikawa's character."

2021-08-17 17:46:00 +0000 UTCI didn't see any comments saying "Oikawa gets cool later" or "You'll like him after his back story" people were just correcting your misunderstandings about him "bullying" Kageyama or him somehow being "selfish" when the show is telling you otherwise in the same episode
