The animation is crisp tbh. Ya anime released nowadays are much more cool looking but it was the same hype for these animations at that time and this animation is more true to Kishimoto's art. The only thing I found odd were the mouth flaps. Everything else was good and kinda had a melancholic tone to it.

The models here are simplified and actually more faithful to Kishimotos work. This episode was supervised by Masayuki Kouda who’s the current series director for Boruto. He takes a lot of influence from Hiroyuki Yamashita for these character sheets. The line work is thinner, less shading and overall more animation friendly while looking (IMO) even better. The design help the animators stretch the characters for better dynamism and bring out individual idiosyncrasies. The only problem is the mouth movement really. It’s even present in the sub too but it’s more noticeable in the dub.

The fact that Naruto's entire class outranks him but he's giving out orders is terrible! Just like Ibiki said, the chain of command is in shambles. (Obviously I know he wasn't talking about them) And Naruto by all accounts couldn't possibly fight Sauske in that moment of time either sooooo 🤷🏾‍♂️ . Just another part of y I hate this version of Naruto. The class was upfront about eliminating Sauske but Naruto is still persistent in his selfish naivete to save Sauske. Like has anyone ever wondered why he didn't tell his friends exactly what he said to Sauske? Because he knows deep down the class would do anything to keep Naruto away n try to go kill Sauske themselves. & between Shikamaru, Neji, Ino, Choji ALONE! They could probably pull it off. Now add in everyone else lol
