Don't be too hard on Namond, he's under pressure from literally every direction, and he scared kid. He's acting out to cover himself. Don't put him under the standards of the hardened criminals around him.

JXTN

I was just about to post this haha

My man, did you not watch the reaction? Chris literally said but at least Namond has heart. Do you want me to give you a timestamp.

Kamina 1

Daniel Jorgenson

Same Mo.

Kamina 1

Lol Chris definitely has a thing for characters with heart. First Bodie, now Namond.

Kamina 1

Really glad Chris and Spidey are part of these reactions.

Max

As long as he's not in a group home.

So, Pat is sort of right re: the murder discussion. And everyone else is sort of wrong. Sort of. Hear me out. In the discussion, you're conflating two different things: 1. Causes of Death 2. Criminal Violations/crimes Causes of death are an objective description of how someone died, usually applied by a medical examiner. It can differ by area, but there are basically five of these: - Natural death (aka sickness etc) - Accidental death (fell off a ladder woops) - Suicide (they killed themselves) - Homicide (Another human caused their death) - Unknown (????) No matter what, if you cause another person's death that's homicide. Now, depending on the circumstances, someone guilty of homicide may have violated any of a number of criminal statutes and be charged with different crimes. This again depends on the jurisdiction, but often you have something like the following: - Murder (First Degree): Premeditated, intentional murder - Murder (Second Degree): Intentional murder that was NOT premeditated - Murder (Third Degree) OR Manslaughter OR Negligent Homicide etc - These kinds of charges occur when you kill someone without intending to. The exact charge depends on jurisdiction and how reckless/dangerous the thing you were doing when they died was. This is what Derek Chauvin was convicted of - he might not have intended to kill George Floyd, but the thing he was doing was so reckless and stupid and dangerous and likely to cause death that is is still guilty of murder in the third degree. In the show, Braddock's killer who was shooting at the bleach bottles is probably guilty of manslaughter or negligent homicide plus any number of weapons charges for shooting in the city etc. He didn't intend to kill Braddock, but shooting silenced shots down an alley at night is so stupid and likely to cause harm he is culpable even without intent to kill. So everyone was half right IMO. The smokehound isn't a murderer, there IS a difference between what he did and an intentional killing, but he'll probably still do time for killing someone due to his negligent shitty actions.

Nah Surj isn't in a vacant, he's working homicide, trying to find Lex.

The larger brown-skinned man, Donnie Andrews, is one of the main inspirations for the character "Omar".

Seeing how uncomfortable Rana gets when during the school stuff kind of makes me want to see her reaction to Lean on Me. I've watched The Wire several times. Upon the first time watching it, I hated Herc, Carver, and Prez right off the bat. And when I say hate, I mean HATE!!! By the end of season two, the hatred was fading for Prez. Towards the end of season three and during season four the hatred for Carver had faded away. Do you know when the hatred for Herc faded away? NEVER!!! My hatred for Herc only intensified. I never found that Herc and Carver scenes funny, they only annoyed me. When they got upset that no one informed them of what was going on, I never felt an ounce of sympathy for them because they were idiots who half assed the job. I'm just realizing that it wasn't until the partnership split up up that I even started like Carver. Herc remains my least favorite character on the show, and the worst character on the show for me. Even worst than Ziggy(unpopular opinion, Nick is my least favorite Sabotka, Nick is basically like that guy from the last episode that said "They had their turn" "we're not like the blacks, we only took one dollar out of every three not two"). Herc has no redeeming qualities to me and I'm pretty sure that during my first viewing of The Wire, this is when I went from hating Herc to HATING Herc. If Frank Gallagher didn't exist, Herc would probably be my least favorite character in television history. I want to preface this by saying that I don't hate Pat. I may not agree with him often but I can respect his opinions. Heck I even agree with him to a certain extent on the way Prez is teaching the kids. But the whole discussion about how a stray bullet shouldn't be considered murder, made my head hurt just a little bit. Let's put it this way, in an earlier season there was a shootout, the mom took one of her kids and hid in the bathtub and told the other kid to hide under the bed. That kid got killed by a stray bullet. It was not the shooter's intention to kill that kid, but he murdered that kid nonetheless. Murder isn't completely defined by intent, especially in a court of law, it's more so defined by actions that lead to death.
