Aah, I've been waiting for this for so long! The other 4 seasons are varying degrees of awesome, but this one... This one is a masterpiece. These 4 kids live rent-free in my heart. Can't wait to see how you guys respond to their stories. And I hope Suraj comes back!

Couple of things: First, the powder Snoop and Chris are putting on the corpses actually isn't lye - it's quicklime. The two sound similar but she definitely says quicklime. Quicklime was historically used in the burial of corpses when a deep grave couldn't be dug because it eliminates a lot of the smell during decomposition. That's important if you don't want animals digging it up... or humans finding it in the vacant you closed up with your nailgun. Then, there's Snoop. Finally, Snoop. Snoop (the character)'s full name is Felicia 'Snoop' Pearson. The actor who plays her's name is Felicia 'Snoop' Pearson. ...yeah. Snoop-the-Actress is a Baltimore native who was in the game like the kids we see in this season from a young age - she was born to addicts and in the foster system. At 16 she was convicted of second-degree murder, and put away for sixteen years. She got out on parole after 6 and a half years, and was struggling to stay out of the game when she met Michael K Williams, who plays Omar, in a Baltimore nightclub. He introduced her David Simon and Ed Burns, and they wrote her into the show in Season 3 as, basically, a darker version of herself. As you can see, she's got an even bigger role this season. She has no formal acting training at all. Snoop is just Snoop. She's fucking fantastic and scary as hell - that opening scene with the nailgun is a masterpiece. Like Chris mentioned, after The Wire she fell back into the game and was arrested with 60 others in a big sting in 2011, but her seven year sentence was deferred and since then she's added a ton more acting credits. She's got a memoir out. Good luck to her because she's fucking awesome. One of my favorite characters on the damn show.

Micky- There were some holdouts after WWII I’m not sure how many but there were some but I wouldn’t classify Bodi as one. i always took Bodi and Slim Charles’s situation to be that the Barksdales are completely gone. Slim had the rep so he got brought into the co-op to sell to the newly independent dealers taking up corners that Marlo didn’t think would pay enough to bother holding. Bodi is completely independent and took a corner no one wanted to set up shop on. Bodi takes reups from Slim but he has no muscle or protection. Bodi was the smart pawn, he made it across the board but by the time he got there the game was over and his side had lost.

Ed Burns was a teacher in Baltimore after he left the force. When they were laying out this season he told David Simon that there are 4 types of boys; the hustler, the wannabe, the cool kid and the stinky kid. These 4 boys taking over the show is such a ballsy move, the major characters are dead or sidelined and the show is handed over to 4 boys on their last week of summer vacation before 8th grade.

Teachers stack their furniture (or move some of it into the halls) during the summer so that the janitors can do a deeper clean and wax parts of the floor they can't usually get to. Though in Prez' classroom there were still papers all over the floor so apparently that never happened, which is maybe another way the show indicates how understaffed/underfunded the schools are.

I could be wrong but it seemed to me like they were joking? Lol. Like the way they said it and stuff made it seem like he just wasn’t in this particular binge, not gone forever. And I’m pretty sure I’ve heard them joke in similar ways when someone misses a reaction. Hopefully it’s not for real though lol.

Spidey broke my heart with something he said in the 44th minute of the uncut. I wasn’t ready for that. When ever I rewatch this show I think of the 4 boys being just of camera waiting for they turn. I don’t really know if this is accurate but I’ve always thought of Prez’s motivation for becoming an inner city teacher as him actively trying to change himself. All we ever really heard from him after shooting the cop was realization and worry that he might be a racist. Prez is a smart guy, he could have landed a decent paying job somewhere. Instead he becomes a teacher in West Baltimore. That strikes me as a fairly deliberate choice. But I had the same thought Pat did when I first saw this “He’s gonna blind all those kids”
