@Shockzz1234 don’t discredit looking at sales. The sales itself shouldn’t be the final determination of the quality of work, as you say but it’s a pretty significant component of people’s interest in DS. The anime did its job in drumming up interest in the manga and the sequel movie. I’d imagine people wouldn’t spend so much on a thing they don’t like. Demon Slayer is a success in the manga/anime industry, and it’s formula for success should be something JJK follows closely. A previously decently popular manga getting a tremendous anime adaptation followed closely by a canonical movie. I’d imagine JJK is experiencing some sort of increased readership for the manga. I hope my prior comments don’t suggest I’m disparaging JJK. I’m more disparaging the shit thrown DS’s way. Tho I’d imagine the creative minds behind DS are just laughing away the harsh criticisms. They got their bag, and they really don’t need me defending them

Also, Alejandro Saab (voice actor) put another spin on JJK. It’s a show that was probably always going to do better in America, like how My Hero Aca performs better in the US, and in comparison Japan made Demon Slayer shatter records. In short, certain audiences have preferred tastes.

If shows and movies weren't meant to be compared, the rating systems of IMDB and RottenTomatos wouldn't exist. Comparisons not existing would also kill growth. As someone in the animation industry we personally compare things on a daily basis. Understanding what is better or worse and who is doing things successfully or not executing as well is all part of the industry and the only way you create new, fresh, creative, innovative products.

i don't get why ppl get angry at comparisons,its just like getting mad that two heist shows have similar elements...its the same genre so comparison will obviously be there and the show actually welcomes those elements too as we see in later episodes

Ok but it isn't just the animation. It's the music, and the voice acting. I can agree with one thing and it's that just like any other shounen, the plot is very basic, and usually not willing to take risks.

Demon Slayer is a product of hype (just like JJK), it also has the same plot (more or less) as JJK, and they are both EXTREMELY overrated.

Bruh after watching the whole season, ep 1 has a whole different vibe

i thought demon slayer anime was 6/10 at best. Outside amazing animation, music and overall production values the writing , the dialogue and just the characters were basic as fuck. Even MHA which can get bland once in a while , still feels like it has better characters and dynamics, Also while JJK dont have somethint like ep 19 it also dont have issue with its pacing , monster of the week that barely relates to anything and so on.

Kind of shocked too. Some of the comments seem to think the dub is trash but I enjoyed it. Hell I finished the season listening to the dub. The Crunchyroll dubs are pretty solid. Kind of shocked they’re watching this on HBO max tho.

It’s also not even close to being true. Demon Slayer’s movie set worldwide records, the manga beat out “side quest” One Piece to be a top selling manga. Yeah JJK had a solid first season with great moments of animation, but Demon Slayer ep 19 stills blows me away. I don’t know how Ufotable pulled that off. People can talk crap if JJK s2 ever comes out before the confirmed s2 of demon slayer. MAPPA doesn’t really do long running series

JJK got some amazing foundation from some past top anime. JJK got inspirations from: Naruto, YuYu Hakusho, HxH, Bleach, One Punch Man, MHA, and apparently Neon Genesis Evangelion💯. The author has said all this in interviews, and twitter post. And btw, this is an amazing rated season. Best first season in anime Ive ever seen so far‼️
