It offers an interesting perspective of that discussion and is a really good book... I least I thought so :)

It was in this moment that Shippuden pulled some Dragon Ball bullshittery and made death have almost no consequence. If everyone had just stayed dead, this arc would have been 10/10 from beginning to end. The consequence of losing a character is something that makes a fantastic show, bringing the dead back to life is something that makes for shitty writing.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Jiraiya came up with the name Naruto when he looked at his ramen. You can see the white circular thing in his ramen with the pink swirl, that thing is actually called "naruto" and it's a food item that goes in ramen. Pretty sure Jiraiya just named him after the literal thing that was in his bowl of ramen.

Can I just say I love how much Nahid enjoys empathetic main characters? I noticed it when they watched Demon Slayer, and now here with Naruto. He and Rana are always so moved by the empathy and kindness the characters display; it's one of the things that makes watching your reactions so lovely. The intelligent discussions and jokes, too, and how emotionally-invested you guys get in general. But I wanted to praise that in specific, because there are so many reactors out there who praise characters being badass or stoic, and it's refreshing to see praise for kindness and caring.

Hope you enjoyed this arc because it is complete shit from here on out. Asspulls after asspulls. Also a shitty ass final boss villain. Also just power ups after power ups. I can list off more but I figure I wouldn't knowingly spoil all the more trash to come since I don't want to be that kind of person. I'll just enjoy the good writing from rezero and parasite. I wouldn't be surprised if Nahid still loves all of it while criticizing other series for stuff he doesn't even technically understand. (Not trying to shit on him but I have seen it happen already. While I partially agree. If you think about, all of “pains” abilities came from him. So if he has all those abilities then naruto doesn’t stand a chance unless he is completely out of chakra. I think the point with him is that he isn’t a villain and wants to believe in that way of living. He just keeps having it shot down every time so I think naruto was reassurance for something that was already there. Now from a story or more broad perspective, it never really gets addressed. And just saying I’m gonna side with jiraiya is the worst response.

They already clarified it but the monk didn't teach them Ninjutsu or fighting, he taught them Ninshu which is for peace. They are two completely different things, Ninjutsu is derived from Ninshu.

As much as I love the Pain Arc, I've never been able to accept the way it ends. It just doesn't feel earned. Naruto telling Nagato that he's felt pain too is cute and all, but there's absolutely no comparison between the two. Nagato grew up in a warzone starving and struggling to survive. Naruto acted out because he wanted attention. But the thing that I just can't accept is that Nagato, who's lived 20+ years nurturing his ideology is convinced to do a complete 180 just because he finds out Jiraiya's first book was inspired by him. What's worse, is that Naruto (and Kishimoto by extension) doesn't even present a suitable answer for ending nucelar deterrance, which is one of the biggest themes of this arc. Naruto's whole argument boils down to, "Jiraiya believed there's a way, so I'll believe in him too!!!". Kishimoto is admitting there's no real answer and that we just have to hope and believe that one day everyone will sit down and play kumbaya. Not to mention the fact that all the pain/loss of the attack on the Leaf Village is undone, which just cheapens alot of the sacrifice.
