Comments

You mean the one that starts with a P right? "Got that Corona!"

BetheSOUL

Just wanted to let ya'll know they decriminalized prostitution and drug possession in Baltimore last month

That happens to me almost every week, comments just keep popping into my head as the day goes on. Damn show is just to thought provoking.

Ryan

The funny thing is stringer runs thing like a business problem with that is as long as money is good he don't care also a lot of the big mistakes are made under strings watch at the start of the show Avon only responsible was their street credit and their connection if bell on the crew they might have noticed thing sooner

Kwame James

Scene where Cutty slapped old girl reminded me of when Darkseid said "we will use the old ways" near the end of Snyder's film lol. SN: Sorry about all the comments. I keep remembering more stuff as i watch through this video.

Kamina 1

29:24 What's with Chris and people getting hit in the head so hard, they forget Algebra lmfaooo haha what happen to you as a kid bro?

Kamina 1

How rock hard was Jimmy after that mini exchange with Stringer lol ? 😆

Kamina 1

Also notice how Avon said where’s the discipline. Who’s in charge that should be checking on things like that?

Acash33

D only had 20 so he would’ve done like 7 if he listened to Avon.

Acash33

Not sure if you guys noticed didn’t see it in the reaction. Right after the meeting with Stringer. Marlo tells Chris tell our people tool up. Basically he’s not trying to hear Stringer offer.

Acash33

Yes please watch paid in full!

Acash33

Yea that is so good how they have the real Avon, Omar, Landsman and the inspiration for the corner come on this show.

There's been a program in Vancouver for 20 years. The world has not ended. Here's a map of the places in Canada with supervised consumption sites: https://health.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-medication/opioids/responding-canada-opioid-crisis/map.html

It's not the same thing as "Hamsterdam," but one controversial solution to drug problems is "safe injection sites," buildings where heroin and fentanyl users are allowed to to inject under the supervision of medical professionals to make sure they don't OD or spread diseases such as HIV. They've been trying to open one here in Philly for years but courts keep blocking it. Curious what you all think of it (Normies and general commentators).

Reacting to this season is super timely--Baltimore just announced they are going to stop prosecuting low-level offenses including drug possession and prostitution. (https://www.insider.com/baltimore-will-no-longer-prosecute-drug-possession-prostitution-2021-3)

Fun piece of Wire trivia: In the discussion between Stringer and Marlo, one of the old school players in the drug trade Stringer mentions is 'Melvin.' He's a real dude, a heroin kingpin in Baltimore in the 70s and 80s named 'Little' Melvin Williams. One of the detectives who locked Little Melvin up in '85 was none other than former cop and series writer and co-creator Ed Burns. David Simon, who was a reporter at the Baltimore Sun at the time, wrote a number of articles about Little Melvin's arrest and trial. Simon and Burns used Little Melvin as their primary inspiration for the character of Avon Barksdale. Little Melvin got paroled in 2003... and Burns/Simon immediately got him on The Wire. He plays the Deacon, the religious man Bunny sometimes talks to and who talked to Cutty about getting his GED in this episode. The Deacon is the real Avon Barksdale. EDIT: Oh, and you may have already caught this one, but the white-haired older cop with the mustache who is Bunny's second in command? That actor is former BPD Homicide sergeant Jay Landsman, who served as the inspiration for The Wire BPD Homicide Sergeant... Jay Landsman. He auditioned to play himself in Season 1, but didn't get the role at the time. 😂

Nerd Going Outside

These reactions don't fit Micky's schedule and he's also already seen the series so he opted to sit this one out.

The Normies

Nah Haikyuu is canceled today

Max

So why isn't Micky allowed to join the Wire reactions again?

Max

johnny has HIV. HIV ≠ AIDS. HIV can progress to AIDS.

For real!! We need a “Paid In Full” reaction Chris!!

"Hamsterdam" was sort of tried in Baltimore. It's based off of Mayor Kurt Schmoke (who later was the President of my law school in Baltimore), who wanted to legalize drugs in the 1990s. He faced such a pushback that he did not run for a 3rd term. He was a consultant on the show and appears as a background character in a later season.

Tom McDonald

there's a name of a heroin package next season that hits a little too close to home lmaoo iykyk.

Kiana B.

shamrock is unintentionally funny af lmaooo.

Kiana B.

the deacon or priest as y'all call him in the show is actually the 'real' avon barksdale or some of the inspiration for the character rather. Ed burns the writer on the show was a cop at the time in baltimore and actually put him in prison lol.

Kiana B.

The slap heard around the world...

Alwyn Smith

I missed it the first time I watched, but it's clear as day in the gunfight when you know, especially with the gunshot wound to the front of her head.

John M.

It never explicitly gets said on the show but the reason Omar's boyfriend is on the bench and that Kimmy is mad at him is because Tasha(the girl from the crew that got killed in the shoot out) got killed by friendly fire, not from the other crew.

Ron Corleone

So glad you responded so strongly to, "Is you takin' notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?" My favourite line in television history (alongside "That's the guy I was telling you about" from The Leftovers).

John M.

haikyuu

Me

No Haikyuu today?

NathanP

I’ve pee’d for some of my family to Chris. Avon did 26 months on a 7 year bid, as a first time offender he would have only served half of that 7, so he only got out a year early by setting up that corrupt guard.

Ryan

Aaah this season is so good! Great reaction as always everyone.
