Perception and Illusion are 2 of the biggest themes of Naruto. We see that in this PAIN situation, who the the real bad guy is depends on your perception. Yeah he's fucking up the Leaf, but the Leaf did the exact same to The Rain years ago so? We see that with Itachi, he made Sasuke perceive him as the bad guy but it was all an elaborate illusion. We saw that with Zabuza and the illusion he was putting up, he wanted to be seen as a ruthless heartless ninja. We see that with many major villains/heroes or Anti-heroes throughout the series and I love it.

pains plan is basically nukes, he belive mad is inevitable because people don't understand pain till they feel pain. hes gonna launch the mother of all nukes then hes going to give nukes to everyone. he believes that instead of people not using nukes because they're bad everyone will use the nukes and then learn pain.

Pain's speech is one of the reasons Nagato/Pain is one of my favorite characters in Naruto. I usually hate the "We're the same you and I" talking point but with Pain it really sinks in that Naruto and Pain are doing a lot of the same things. It's just Pain is doing it to a bigger scale and has an idea (no matter how bad) in order to achieve his goal. I love that Pain shot down Naruto's bringing peace to the world line by asking what he plans to do because sure you can preach peace and a perfect world but if you have no plan then how is anyone supposed follow you or trust you? It is kinda like AOT where the Jaegers have a bad plan to bring peace but no one else has a concrete plan that's better to replace it so the Zeke and Eren have to go along with their plan because no one is saying anything other than "Why can't we all just get along." It really brings into question what's better? An idea for a better world through ethical means that could be possible if given a long period of time to figure it out or a plan that would work and is concrete but is unethical and pretty bad.

Pain always was my favorite Naruto villain. He's not evil by nature, he's just on the other team and has genuine motives that will convince you to get on his side, if you aren't careful.

Pain is very right about some of his arguments, and very wrong about others. Unfortunately a lot of his "greatest hits" are the truths that apply to both the Naruto-world and our own. Humans are dumb, vain, selfish creatures by-and-large on a day to day basis, and there are a whole lot of people that don't care about anything that doesn't directly affect them. I think Suraj kind of hit it on the head with a throw-away comment right at the beginning of the discussion about it being unfixable. At least in our world...for Naruto who knows?

The main reason why it occurred is because energy businesses didn't want to pay to weatherize their infrastructure and it led to rolling blackouts and deaths. Also, note that these businesses weren't required by the state of Texas to weatherize their stuff. That is because capitalism seeks to capture regulatory powers and the State itself. They get enough politicians elected and they can take away regulations that protect us and the world. Or they cut taxes for the higher tax brackets to the benefit of the rich. There is no ethics in capitalism. The only thing capitalism is concerned with is money. Sure, they might try to do some ethical things on the surface that don't really mean much especially when they do it to hide their shadier business practices like HSBC laundering money for drug cartels (and only got a relatively small fine when they got caught) or Coca Cola funding death squads in Colombia or Nestle arguing in court the child slavery is well and good. Hell, do you know what the biggest form of theft is in America? It's wage theft and it's LEGAL. Your boss can steal money from you (usually in the form of cutting your breaks short or not letting you take holidays and the like) and you won't see your bosses get arrested over it. You'll have to go to the labor board and prove what happened and the company will get fined and then move on. Like I said, greed is the heart and engine of capitalism. It cannot function without it and it will disregard any ethics if it needs to. Even in the face of climate catastrophe (which oil companies have known about since the 70s and knew that they were the main drivers of climate change) capitalism will find a way to make a buck.

Global corporatism isn't a good idea. Capitalism based on voluntary trade is fine. It's when ppl use greed over ethics it's wrong. But that's besides the point. My favorite speech in all naruto was just given. The depth Kishimoto placed in this conversation was truly exceptional and well portrayed it leaves me with goosebumps. I truly believe that if everyone actually listened and thought about these naruto convos the world would be better for it. Looking forward to y'all finishing this arc out. More epic speeches to come :D

I'll give you that Pain's methods are wrong and that Naruto is a bit inexperienced....but Tsunade does not know how to solve the riddle of Peace. In fact up to now no one knows, that's why we are where we are. Characters like Itachi, Jiraya, 3rd Hokage all had Peace in mind but did not break the shinobi system (something that we've been told since the Zabuza arc is the root of problem)

Digging the reactions to this whole arc haha. Love it. Also just a reminder, the village didn’t really raise Naruto. Had Mizuki (the ep 1 villain) succeed in filling Naruto with hate which he was easily doing, Naruto would have likely ended up like Gaara pre-ass beating. Very mad, hateful, and loving only himself. Hell he wouldn’t even be like Nagato, who had a village and friends. This is why Iruka is the real MVP haha. Then eventually Kakashi, Jiraiya, and Tsunade them all came along.
