Death Note:

After this episode, we understood why Watari is the GOAT.

Light is an extremely interesting and entertaining character with strong charisma and wit. He is also... insane. L is a goober, extremely intelligent and analytical and his blood type is syrup. He also doesn't shy away from torturing people. Our group is slowly but surely shifting between teams L and team Light. What team are you on and why?

Comments

I'm on the fence, not on anyones side tbh

Siraj Khalid

tbh no XD

Arindrajit Sen

team light because as a character hes interesting and ever time light is on screen something will happen

Gabriel Arreaga

Light was right from the beginning so team Light

Dartz0023

Team L all day. He had Light cornered, Light is great too but acts like a bitch when he has to take an L. Not a good look.

Martin Garcia

at the end human are disgusting creatures i rather take the less disgusting one team L

Slicewinds

The fact that he couldn't prove it wen the killer is right in front of him was laughable ans ppl still think L is all that. If light goal was just to kill L, L would be dead by the first 10 ep already, light has to do it in a way he wouldn't be suspected of it. L Is batman with a whole police force as resource he also has an edge

Abdul Manneh

Im an Immature 21 year old who simps for light cuz he is a twisted fuck. Joe from you and makishima from psycho pass other twisted characters I found interesting.

Abdul Manneh

I'm a weird fuck, my fav characters have always been villains. Makishima another twisted fuck I loved in psycho pass. Not necessarily rooting for him but im always more fascinated wen he makes moves to counter L wheres I couldn't care less for L. Im a fellow pat

Abdul Manneh

I'm confused because Death Note isn't Shonen. It's a psychological crime based anime. I'm not saying the character isn't interesting but that I'm not going to glorify him and root for him to win because he's a deranged mad teenager. He had an idea but now he's a terrorist killing people on a whim. I can like characters with bad intent but still not be on their team, for instance, I think Darth Vader is interesting but I'm not agreeing with order 66 and his reasons for going to the dark side

FryLord

Isn't that more interesting tho, ain't u tired of the bland mc of many shonen now days

Abdul Manneh

He is basically batman with a police force behind him. Light has to kill him without being suspicious of the fact. The killer is right in front of him and he still hasn't got any evidence and is just sus of him.

Abdul Manneh

Reduced crime by 70% or something of the sort.

Abdul Manneh

Team light all day. I simp for villains a fellow pat. Makishima from psycho pass and tendo pain some of my favorite characters so u get the gist

Abdul Manneh

Team Light of course no other main character is like him so he is unigue

Bourbon

As soon as episode 1 ended with Light being like "I'm going to be god!" , I was like "Eww". And then a couple episode later he was talking about how he might have to kill his family to protect the death note. That was when I started hating him and he just got more and more irredeemable to me as the series progressed. So I started liking L just because he knocked Light down a few pegs. And then we actually saw him and I loved how wonderfully weird he was (and also hilarious). Team L all the way.

Ruka

Team L all the way

MegaFreddy25- The former 3x Deadlock Patreon Champion who has RETURNED from Patreon locking my fucking subscription for a year

I have always been team Light and always will be. They say that a story is only as good as it's villain, well Light is a great villain. Obviously I'm only team Light because of the fact that this is fiction. If it was real life I'd most likely be team L. I just like the character of Light more. Still like L though.

Jules Eris

Tho Light is in the wrong, can't say he doesn't produce results lol

Lively Nili

Even though Light is the main character L is the hero of the show he is trying to catch a mass murderer in Kira although I also love Light as he is Shonens most unique main character dude is insanely evil and manipulative

hamze ahmed

I hated light from ep 1 but I do admit he's such a good villain even though hes the main character... hes so smart its annoying lol

Rain

I was 12 when I first watched this and I loved both of them, but I did prefer L. Now 11 years later it's hard to even watch these reactions because of how much I dislike Light. So yeah, team L.

Mar

L is good and Light is evil. Simple as that.

Temperistic

while I do enjoy Light’s antics and villainous posturing, it always been L for me. He’s rude, he’s weird, he’s manipulative sometimes, but I just love his conviction and drive to uphold justice. He’s mirrored with Light in that way they’re both willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their own definition of justice. Light is just objectively wrong tho lol. L, while infringing on some human rights sometimes, is at least trying to save the majority of the populace. Also he’s got a great sense of humour! Unlike Light who seems like a very straight edge nice professional guy in his casual conversations.

Can’t hate L

Luis Rodriguez

I was relatively neutral when I first watched the show just because I was along for the ride, but a part of me enjoys charismatic villains so 55-45 Team Light. L’s weird quirkiness did get me to change the way I hold my phone tho

Neal Cabanos

Let me preface this by saying these are two very intelligent individuals. All context given, though... Light is smarter than L. And it's not even close. I wrote a long-winded comment earlier on this post twenty minutes ago and it's gone for some reason. Not sure why as I was careful to not spoil. Anyways I'm going to try once more...We're comparing a guy in L who, short of the Death Note itself, has all the experience and resources advantage over Light. To a high school kid who is winning so far with no experience dealing with investigation at all, let alone the Undefeated L the world's greatest, off of sheer intellect alone. He is objectively smarter from the context of the show. L eliminated 99.999% of potential suspects to this global threat and isolated Light as his main suspect early on. That was the last time he took a truly captivating W and has been getting played a fool ever since trying to seal the deal. Light is so confident, he let Higuchi get this book and is HELPING L try to catch hm, and not like... Half-ass helping. Light is trying his hardest to catch himself with L and helping him deduce things L didn't on his own. AND THEY STILL CAN'T GET HIM. His plan is so smart, that even he and L combined can't catch him. No from a moral perspective of course Light is far more reprehensible. From an intelligence perspective, he's been a cut above.

John Brooks

Light the goat most of the DN fandom are L fanboys but that’s okay 😁

Jeff

lol I see what you did there - marketa

The Normies

I agree L is smarter than Light but he also has way more experience compared to Light, who until now was just a high schooler who was top of his class. Plus, L's feeling towards Light being Kira is just himself being skeptical and almost like a gut feeling because, as you said, he has no concrete proof to back it up. Of course, the events leading up to now has made Light suspicious in L's eyes but honestly, most of these suspicions were aroused due to Light's own arrogance and rivalry against L. Any sane dude who wanted to use the death note properly would not have challenged L's response and neither would he do any of the things Light has done. Simply put, if Light did nothing and continued to write names, L would have never had any clues to work with. It's simply because of Light's own ego that he wanted to attack L and not play defense that led to all these close calls.

Danny

The question wasn't do you like the character Light or not, the question was which team are you on. There should be really no discussion when it comes to what team you are on, you should be on the side of the non serial killer.

Jared

You realize you are allowed to like a character and also disagree with their actions, right? I love Light; he's a fantastic character. He's also a murderous piece of shit and deserves to die. These are not contradictory thoughts. I'm not a Light "simp" just because I like his character. What's pathetic is you trying to group everyone who likes Light into a serial killer "fan club" and implying that everyone who likes Light supports his inhumane actions.

Andrew

Agreed.

Champion Bescos

It's strange. I first watched Death Note nearly 10 years back, and was definitely Team Light back then. When I watch it now recently though, I find it hard to stand Light.

Aashay

Team L. Easily. While Light is intelligent, L is just on a different level. I remember scoffing at L when he first showed up. It almost felt impossible for anyone to ever catch Light with his supernatural killing powers. But L is already 100% sure that Light is Kira, he just needs to prove it.

Aadit Doshi

AGREED.

Edwin Ayala

Light is just anime Ted Bundy. I'd rather support L.

PKKite

The younger audience always favors Light. As we learn in the early episodes its a "childish notion of good and evil" or "right and wrong". As people grow older and mature their views align more with L. It is always quite sad seeing how many simps Light has though. All the innocents he killed is okay its for the greater good. Serial Killer with a fan club is pathetic.

Jared

Team Light cause he's way more entertaining to watch than L

Kurumi

Yup he's 24

MojoJojoGojo

Yeah he's going up against supernatural entities and there's no room to solve what's actually going on...

MojoJojoGojo

Team Light. He's Justice, and I like his one hit kills

Saitama

Team Misa <3

Ruben Mira Jimenez

When Light thought he was killing L at the very beginning of the series, he didn't do it because L was evil or to save himself. He did it because he wanted to feel superior and that has been a huge part of his motivation ever since.

Zagstrug

I picked team Light but I think both of Light and L are fascinating characters.

BlaineTM

Light's a psycho, however smart and intelligent he may be what he's doing is wrong.

Dhiraj Malapati

I will forever be team light cause he is just so fascinating

Jaminica

By the way L is a little bit older than light. he's like in his early to mid twenties

Rick Wilson

When I was younger, Light was exciting and had a good intent with a wild method. But now...I see he really is a murderous kid in a fantasy world trying to make a fairy tales real

FryLord

Team light because without him, we would live in a darker world.

L has so many handicaps against him yet he still knows without a doubt that Light is Kira which is why I respect him

Tejan J Salaam

Team Light. Light is definitely a reprehensible dude, but he's such a fascinating character with very interesting allies. Their side is more fun to watch. Ryuk and Misa are really fun, likeable, silly characters. I also really like Rem, she's a bit of a mystery, and her past with Misa was sweet. Team L is cool, but mainly because of the task force. Hot take, but....I've never been too big on L. He's definitely cool and an interesting character, but I never much cared for him. The task force, on the other hand, has Soichiro, Matsuda, and Aizawa, who I think are all great and really likeable characters.
