I love the discussions you guys dive into every episode about the cops and what they should and shouldn't be able to do. I've watched this show a handful of times spread over a decade and each time it feels different watching the police operate, especially now. It's easy to watch a cop show (even though this isn't exactly a cop show) on tv and side with the cops vs the bad guys, but this show does a good job of just presenting what happens without sugarcoating and letting the viewer evaluate whether it's right or not. Y'all are doing a great job picking apart the nuance of this show and feeding off the different things each of you notice. It's great watching you cooperatively piece together some of the stuff that took me multiple rewatches to realize.

There is no winning in Game of Thrones either. It is continuous and there is always a new threat

Thoko

A little b-ball with that other half of Baltimore comin up.

I think it’ll do you guys a lot of good to realize “the game” in The Wire isn’t like “the game” in Game of Thrones or any other show. There is no winning just getting by.

Yes!! The most misunderstood character on the show, probably?

Also, I can't wait for you guys to meet Ziggy!

FYI The restaurant D'Angelo went to with Wee-Bey and Stinkum is a place called Chap's, they are famous for pit beef sandwiches which is a Baltimore/Maryland thing. That's what they were eating, or at least Bey was. Personally Chap's isn't my favorite pit beef place but they are definitely the most popular.

"You follow drugs, you get drug addicts and drug dealers. But you start to follow the money, and you don't know where the fuck it's gonna take you." - This is where the name of the show comes from imo. An why they make it so difficult just to get a wire approved. Senators, Mayors, etc.. maybe even higher up in the chain of command would be behind bars if they followed the money trail to where it starts.

I feel like we forget Omar shot a kid in the knee McNulty is such a reckless dad lmao

Zee

I guess Rana won’t be giving anymore Father of the Year speeches for fucking Jimmy McNulty. Having his kids play front and follow on one of the most dangerous people in Baltimore, maybe Mrs McNulty was right to try to limit his time alone with his kids. Chris is bringing up education a bit early but I’m happy to jump on to that train early. For me the education system in this country is the biggest problem, the way we standardize education does more to hold back inner city youth than gangsters, shitty cops and corrupt politicians combined. Next week I believe someone will have a proposition for the Normies.
