[Premium Access] Band of Brothers - Episode 10 Points - Group Reaction + Uncut

Comments

Please watch the “we stand alone together” documentary. All the pre show interviews are just parts of this great documentary with and about these men. They deserve a watch.

"The Pacific" is the next mini-series after "Band of Brothers". It came out in 2010. The next sequel to come out after this is "Masters of the Air", it was due out sometime in 2021, but due to Covid it probably won't come out until 2022.

The pacific is a short series on HBO as well. I think it has the guy from Mr robot in it as well.

The Pacific

Same here Marky.. I didn't think I'd shed a tear but god damn what a well done series. - Suraj

The Normies

The term "Band of Brothers" that Winters quoted was from Shakespeare's Henry the 5th where King Henry says that the guys that serve with him will be a band of brothers. I think some of the crew didn't catch that, thinking that Dick Winters invented the term. Just a minor clarification. Also like others are saying you guys should watch "The Pacific", not enough people know about that part WWII. A great Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg production.

Frankie H

You have to watch The Pacific now! yeah it's not as popular, but I assure you it's just as good!

Just an FYI -- the series came from a history book written by Stephen Ambrose called "Band of Brothers" . Ambrose was a history professor at Tulane University. Stephen Ambrose happened to live next door to one of the Easy Company Veterans and got the whole story from him. He then met all of them and wrote the book. Very famous book about World War II. He was a leading Historian in regard to World War II.

Nanette Davis

You guys should definitely watch The Pacific after watching this show.

Yall need to watch The Pacific made by the exact people in the exact same style but a whole worlds of difference, it holds up just as good.

Vlad the Third

I don’t know if you guys are planning to do a react series to anymore documentaries. But if you guys are and you want to learn more about WW2 I would highly recommend The World at War (1973) narrated by Laurence Olivier. It is a 26 part series that is widely considered the greatest WW2 documentary ever made. It is a really great and informative watch.

One of coolest behind the scenes videos I saw on YT was one where the cast and the actual Easy company members visited Bastogne and Foy. They show the site where they got bombed and where Shifty took out the sniper ( an incredibly difficult shot than what was shown in the show ).

Nahid, the new series you were talking about is called "Masters of the Air". Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are producing it and the plot follows American bomber pilots. Early rumors have put the show budget over $200 million.

From my understanding, the Allies didn't allow Austria to become a sovereign state until the 1950's. The Marshall Plan and de-Nazifacation had to take place before Germany and Austria were allowed to rule themselves again.

Chaos T

Goddamnit... I cry every time at "I served in the company of Heroes". I supposed there's not much use in posting trivia now. You should totally watch the Behind the Scenes stuff... I think it's the same docu where Guarnere and someone else revisit Bastogne and Foy. Also the book is so good now that you have context and favorite characters and familiar places. It's so much easier to read/listen once you've seen the show. And it's a small book too. Fast readers will kill it in an afternoon.

MarkyO

I envy you soo much to be able speak to him. I was so shocked to see he made it out. - Nahid

The Normies

Regarding Marketa's question about why they were posted up in Austria waiting - they were an occupying force. The allies stayed in a LOT of those places for a while after the war. Hell, we're STILL in Germany and Japan. Our two largest overseas airbases are Ramstein and Mt. Fuji.

The Dork Knight

Oh and count me as voting for The Pacific and the "We Stand Alone Together" doc as well. Just don't forget your tissues.

The Dork Knight

Bill Guarnere lived 4 blocks from me in South Philly until his death a few years ago. He and Babe Heffron were the coolest guys and would stop what they were doing to talk to anyone who wanted, but it was always about the other guys from Easy, never themselves. Unbelievably humble. Legends.

The Dork Knight

I 100% back this! I would say Generation Kill is like a less dramatic BoB filled with dark humor and pop culture references. It’s also based on true events during the Iraq war. Edit: wrong war

SeymourAsces

You HAVE to do The Pacific! It is a companion piece to Band of Brothers and is also fantastic and shows how different things were in the Pacific Theater compared to Europe. Then I would recommend Generation Kill to cover the best war miniseries trifecta! It is definitely the most realistic depiction of the War in Iraq/modern warfare put to film outside of documentaries with live footage.

Jereco

Also the series was named after the Book 'Band of Brothers', which was a documentary about the 506th written by Stephen Ambrose from interviews with Winters and some of the soldiers. The book did get it's name from that quote though.

Aes86

I think with the German, they mentioned they had orders, which was probably to bring him for questioning.

Aes86

The last line always makes me sob 😭

Elle B.

I hope you guys do The Pacific next

MOB12

One of the best shows I've ever seen - a true classic, and one of HBO:s finest. The interviews with the veterans give the show and the story a lot of weight, and really makes you invested in it.

olof

I’m glad you guys enjoyed the series. Looking forward to the next show.

Gabtab0000

Another great show finished! 😢AGAIN, Looking forward to seeing what's next...

Randy Cooper

Great to see y’all go through this series. A powerful journey. Hope you continue with the full interviews/documentary that the discord recommended to Nahid ;-)

Joe Mags

Fun fact. They made an entire village set and then redressed it with different signs and languages, and shot from different angles to film all the town locations. If you watch carefully you’ll notice the same fountains and layouts, just always from different angles. Extremely well done
