Brown Pat is so not right about dope users being in the game. The reason these syndicates run things the way they do is to protect themselves from low level slingers being pinched because some user went to the cops.

No spoilers below. In terms of the pager/payphone surveillance, here's what the show has said so far: - They have cloned D's pager, so they see the incoming messages to it. - They have 'pen registers' on the payphones in the low rises, based on observing D and other suspects using them all the time. They don't ever explain exactly what a 'pen register' or 'DNR' (same thing) is on the show, but essentially it just records the incoming/outgoing numbers to that phone and the durations - not the audio of the call itself. When Lester gives Daniels a hard time midway through the episode, he's saying that they should have had wiretaps on the low-rise payphones by now, instead of just pen registers. That would give them the audio of the calls as opposed to just the numbers/durations.

So many small things that set up big moments here

Does anyone know which character/show Chris is referencing? The one with the "gay tactician"?

Infinite Ree

I’m just realizing the junkie is one of the main people from the movie Kids. Never noticed.

Avon and Stringer are the stick I use to measure all gangsters in movies and television.

Ryan

I remember when I first watched this and I thought Avon and Stringer were coolest mfs lol. Their mannerisms, how they handled shit and the way they talked made me wanna root for them lol

Zee

Small correction to Chris when he confirmed to Suraj that The Wire is 10 episodes each season. For normies Wire crew: Season 1: 13 Episodes Season 2: 12 Episodes Season 3: 12 Episodes Season 4: 13 Episodes Season 5: 10 Episodes 60 episodes of TIGHT writing.

I always appreciated this show for not always showing the violence. You’ll see plenty of violence as the series progresses but it’s rarely ever glamorized or sensationalized. Which is probably a factor in it never getting a large base. Seeing John Bailey get gunned down does nothing to progress the story or help the viewer better understand a character so it’s skipped over. The show is far more focused on what lead up to the violence and the aftermath and ramifications of the violence. Y’all got me out here about to defend McNulty’s wife. McNuty had not bought one piece of furniture for the kids room when he called her the C word. She’s asking him what colors the beds were because she knew damn well he had not bought anything yet. But he got it the night before and assembled it drunk as hell, and built some shelves out of the leftover parts. Which is one of the best little background touches this show throws in. Father of the Year, James McNulty. PS. You don’t need to worry about me forgetting to watch Micky’s part at the end. I skip over your discussion and go strait for Miicky’s recap, I’ll get back to the couch discussion after that.

though Baltimore does have like at least 1 death a day soooo.......

These dudes are decently organized and for the most part keep it low profiled, and Pats like " I wanna see the shoot out, I wanna see the shoot out".......this might be Baltimore but not everybody is a live wire who makes a scene
