So like, in my eyes, that scene where Gon finally gets to talk to Ging is just beautiful, because we see Ging, this dude who over the whole series and mostly through this arc we label as a terrible father, and he’s put into one of the most father like situations where his son is sobbing uncontrollably and talking so much he barely has time to breathe. And he has no idea what to do and is very flustered but then that one line from Gon about how it should have been him that died immediately sets Ging off and he tells Gon exactly what he needed to hear. Does that redeem him? FUUUUUUCK NO. But it was still amazing to see Also there’s a moment like that earlier in the series during the Phantom Troupe arc, where Gon and Killua are captured by Nobunaga, and in that moment Killua is freaking out and tells Gon to escape even if he dies then Gon snaps him out of it and says “Don’t y’all about dying like it’s not a big deal, I’m allowed to but you aren’t” And in this moment his dad stops him from talking about dying like it’s not a big deal
