You have to also see this as a spanish movie, and here we don't hate Tokyo because we in the South of Europe are hot-heads as well sometimes or we all at least know someone who is like that. Of course it never excuses their actions but we sympathize more with the self-destructive hot-head I think. Every culture is different so she will probably be seen very differently in the US and other places etc. but it is a little more nuanced than just saying we hate her and she sucks. Other people around her die, she basically even killed her boyfriend in the beginning with a badly thought-out robbery plan so she deffinitely suffers from her own actions as well and when she cries and apologizes it's the typical story of a self-destructive person who hates herself and cannot stop her behaviour. Again, not saying it's ok in any way but it is simply tragic, not just her being a bad person.
