I wished they'd watch The Last Kingdom.. straight up underrated viking show..i think it's better than vikings in terms of story telling and characters

Just to clarify something... they are in England for the war. They are going to Gainsborough in England, not back across the sea to Denmark.

So the part with the priest hearing about Thors is what I generally chalk up to as the priest is very particular in morals and certain ways of acting/thinking. For the priest to hear about a man that makes those kind of actions of not making it a point to kill anyone, thinking a true warrior doesn't really need a sword or weapon (because technically the whole thing with Jesus is that is fights with words and not violence), and just a man that has those prominent factors about him is so so so rare back in those days. You would barely ever find a man with that kind of thinking back in those days. Violence and killing and selfish acts were a normal thing for people. Thors had an entirely unique and very wise way of thinking compared to so many others around him. So basically the priest is very interested in his actions and takes notice of him when he hears about it.

some things to clear up in this episode: The girl feels elated because compared to what Askeladd and all those danes did to that village her sin (stealing the ring) is nothing. She even fears god punishment which the danes do not because they believe in other gods and yes she tried to kill herself but the snow saved her in the manga you can see that there is a cliff

Marketa is right about Askeladd's group raiding and pillaging previous Christian towns with Thorfinn. The difference between then and now was that Ragnar, Canute, and The Priest were not with them during the previous raids.
