Kim slowly became the most interesting character in Saul's own show. It's glorious to watch.

Yeah, Howard has stuck his neck out for Jimmy on quite a few occasions but it's undermined by years of devotion to Chuck. Not to mention, years of jealousy Jimmy has felt towards him. It doesn't justify Jimmy's actions. Not even in the slightest. Honestly, Jimmy's actions show just how mentally unstable he is. These are the actions of someone spiraling. Because any sane person would hate Howard but honestly just ignore him. Maybe tell him to piss off. But Jimmy and Kim's treatment towards him is crazy.

To be fair, Jimmy has... don't wanna say "good reason" but... "understandable reason" to be totally okay with selling out his family to get what he wants. I mean, he grew up under a spineless father, a mother who (while still loving him more than anyone) always compared him to his prodigy older brother Chuck, and... well, Chuck, the guy who he admired... who did everything in his power to undermine him. ... I dunno why I typed this. I normally don't defend Jimmy's actions because the show paints him in a sympathetic enough light as it is. But whatever, I felt like it.

I get that Howard is a better person now (or at least we the audience perceive him as a better person now) but from Jimmy and Kim's point of view he's the same miserable asshole from the first 2 seasons. He was Chuck's right hand man in fucking over Jimmy and he was an absolutely shitty boss to Kim for no reason. I think it's important to keep that in mind with his interactions with the two of them because it's not that complicated why they have a problem with him.

I think you guys are having a hard time understanding why Jimmy would do these things to Howard or why Jimmy would dislike Howard because you are only seeing things from Howard's perspective. from Howard's perspective he has "always had his back" but from Jimmy's perspective, Howard has always been the guy who has been on Chuck's side; the Chuck that has always been instrumental in keeping Jimmy down his entire life; the Chuck that that never thought he was good enough to join HHM. to Jimmy, Howard is an elite who will never truly accept someone like him and will only use him to get what he wants.

We really didn't get to see Saul in action in Breaking Bad very much - every time we have in this show (Chicanery, the defendant switch, now this) it's clear he's just a grenade. Chaos erupts around him and nobody knows how to handle it

People who think there was so much action in BB forget how slow some of the early season where, they are both great shows but for me I like Saul a little better mainly because of the cast. Also people need to stop spoiling up coming episodes with little hints or comment, let them just watch and find out.

That whole Saul Goodman scene with everyone was like "the superhero's first day" trope, he's unleashing his powers in full. Also, Olivia Bitsui (the owner of the original photo) is the name of Jeremiah Bitsui's (Victor) daughter. :)

Her mom offered her a ride and some McDonald's to smooth over staying at the bar all night, and Jimmy immediately tries to offer them going out and getting a fancy dinner and celebrating to smooth over his own betrayal. Same behavior patterns. I think Jimmy really does love Kim, but he also really believes all of his ends justify the means

Kim's turnabout at the end is explained by the opening: She had a mother who was an addict, just like Jimmy is. She's had that behavior normalized for her early on and it makes it harder to push someone who you love as much as she obviously loves Jimmy away

This show has always done a great job of recontextualizing "Saul Goodman" over and over. Here we get to see the classic commercials, which were always so funny in breaking bad but watching through Kim's eyes it is just a nightmare unfolding in slow motion
