To me, Homelander could have saved the plane but in his eyes he was just trying to save ants and thought it would be a good moment to boost popularity for Sups in the military. With what was revealed in the last episode of the season, it's clear to me he intentionally let the plane crash because it helped augment his plan.

was getting so heated while typing up my last comment i accidentally hit enter before it was ready... why do y'all think because you give them like $10 a month you get to be rude as hell to these people? they work hard to deliver content to us. bringing together a group of people so their schedules all match is difficult, then add to that getting them all set up to record themselves (later episodes they are in different locations because of COVID) with decent equipment, and then editing the footage so it's not copyright infringing on anything? this isn't just 'sit down and watch tv, then throw it up on youtube for fun' - i wish more people understood that.

In the comics it was actually one of the hijacked planes during 9/11, the speech after kinda mirrors America's response to invade middle east too. Def makes sense they changed that tho, would prob cause some outrage

Butcher says in an earlier episode that the supes will find Translucent eventually. Knowing this is why they wrote the message. If they could have kept it secret forever they likely would have, hence using a case that Homelander couldn't see through.

When Homelander is talking about trying to lift the plane, that is the showrunners telling the audience the truth. It is not like it is supposed to be something up to interpretation. The point of the whole scene is to show that he doesn't even try to do anything at all to save any one of those people. He is extremely selfish.

no physics degree, but homelander wouldn't be able to lift the plane because he has no anchor to exert his force on, and even if he was able to exert some force, the amount of force necessary in just that little point of contact would probably puncture the hull of the plane. There's several videos on youtube by people that actually understand physics explaining why it wouldn't be possible. And the comics where superman goes all mad is called "injustice: gods among us", where the joker makes superman kill Lois

Velocity and force are 2 separate factors here. Homeland can match the speed of the plane but the force needed to support the weight is much more difficult. Imagine a 700,000lb plane on the ground that is being held by Homelander at a singular point. Now imagine a million pounds of force. That singular point, which is likely aluminum, is now a hole

What I would’ve done was hold on to the front landing gear, which I’m assuming is the structurally strongest part of the plane, and tilt the plane nose up slightly. Let the drag forces slow the plane down, but idk how punishing that would be to the plane.

The problem isn't the speed, its the material the plane is made of. The structure of the plane is made to keep things in while being lightweight. So any amount of pressure, even if it's him just putting the plane on his back would cause him to go through the plane.

I want to preface very clearly that it's a comic book, so it's not gonna make sense. I understand what you guys are trying to say, but I think if he just puts the plane on his back, he wouldn't be able to create enough friction between his body and the plane to slow down the plane as he slows down himself. He would slow down himself but the plane would keep going. To create enough friction between himself and the plane, to slow it down as he slows himself, he would have to use force, which would've been excessive and likely destroyed the hull of the plane. That was my interpretation at least.

So guys... The thing about the plane is not If he could or not lift the plane in the air, or If he could carry everyone back to the ground... the thing is, they shoudnt had to be in this position. He could have fly around the plane and shot the lasers with his x vision so he could only hit terrorist. He could have engage the situation a Lot diferent, but HE DONT CARE. This sceane has 2 reasons, the First One is to show that he COULD but he WONT. And the "wonderwoman" is the oposite, she would but she cant.... And for fear, she Just goes along with It. And the 2 is to show How inteligente he is, so Its not that things gone bad and by accident the plane crashed, thing happend this way cause he wanted the plane to crash so he could give that speach... Maybe because he thinks that a speach about a tragedy is more eficient than a speach about an ALMOST tragedy.. He dont Care for saving people. If he can get more results with the congress by leting everyone dies, he is gonna let everyone dies.

Benny Getachew already explained very well. The problem is not Homelander's Strength or Speed while grabbing or putting his back under the plane. But what makes this an impossible task for a "Man". Is the pressure point where a man's body in comparison to a Huge plane would make on the carcass of plane. It will just break on the pressure point. Homeland trying to slow down or lift the plane would make himself go through the carcass ending up inside the plane when he apply contrary force, even with match speed and doing slowly. The plane is heavy and is going down.

Homelander may have super strength but he has the mass of a normal human. So in order to lift anything substantially more massive than himself, like a jumbo jet, he needs a surface to brace against. in most scenarios lifting the plane would be impossible. 1) He flies under the plane to lift the plane from below. This doesn't work for 2 reasons. A) Since he's in the air he has nothing to stand on and would be pushed down by the greater mass of the plane. B) Even if he could brace himself that amount of force on such small surface area would just punch right through the the plane. 2) He grabs from above . A) again in order to not be pulled by the greater mass of the plane he needs a solid surface to hang from. B) Again even if he solves the first problem he cuts through the hull of the plane. 3) Fly into it and gradually slow it down. This is the most doable. Still not likely to work because the speed and angle of approach need to be very specific because if he is even slightly off he will just recreate that scene in episode 1 with Maeve and the armored truck. So saving the plane is out of the question what about flying the people to safety. They are over the ocean, the speed He would have to fly at would generate so much force it would kill the people he is carrying.

Highlander is horrible, but yea the show is supposed to be realistic. it would be impossible to stop the plane, theres no ground there for him to brace himself. i will say is that i don't think these heroes train to their best of their abilities. maybe there was a way to figure it out, or not fry the controls at least. With his capabilities and knowledge at that point it was impossible. Garth Ennis basically made the Boys to show how much superheroes suck

Micky's wrong, if he matched the speed of the plane, clawed into it while still matching the speed and then slowly slowed down, the plane would slow down with him... His fingers wouldn't tear through the plane as it continued to go forward... It's physics.

The physics of homelander not being able to carry the plane, Objects with a small surface area exerting force on an object with a very large surface area produces a lot of pressure. Just like how a needle would go through your skin if you stand on it homelander would go through the plane like a needle. Any force he exerts on the plane would make him go through it just because the force he is exerting is concentrated on a small area and since the force is not distributed through out the plans he would just break through.
