Comments

The Spotify listenings of that Gabrielle song (in the beginning) increased with 3000% the weeks following this episode. Here in Sweden, when you logged onto Spotify the days after the episode was released, the starting page was a picture of Isak and Even and it said "We're shipping Evak too".

I think that that is the question at this point in the story though... when did it start, was anything real? what parts of Even's behavior and choices and feelings are HIS and not a symptom, those are the questions Isak is left with so we are too

Jessica Irene Conifer

yes that spiral when they are eating burgers and you can see when it occurs to Isak that something is wrong and it just gave me chills, then the cutting in and out of consciousness while Even is clattering around the room.

I love this idea that when you first meet someone and they are new and exciting and wow this guy is impulsive and okay yeah let's break into a pool, how romantic, let's find secret romantic meaning in numbers and wow, he just cooked everything in my fridge for breakfast, that's kind of weird, and his thinking is scattered, but he's just a quirky guy.... where is that line that you start to wonder if something is wrong... and how do you know what actions to attribute to who he is and how he feels and what is connected to symptoms of disordered thinking? Isak said to Even that he has no room in his life for people who are mentally ill, which is why he decided to break things off after that, but he came back. I'll go more into what fan theories are about what happened between then and now later because I don't want to spoil anything, but it's interesting to try to piece it all together.

If you think back to the conversation Even and Isak had in the kitchen about Sonja, it makes more sense now that we know Sonja thinks Even's feelings for Isak are just part of his mental illness. Even said that Sonja is so in control, but that she can't feel what he feels. I'm pretty sure that when Even first told her about Isak, she must have tried to convince him that his feelings weren't real. We are looking at all of this from Isak's perspective, but the whole situation must have been so confusing for Even, too.

mmdhd

Lol, one of you asked how Even found Isak at the cafeteria. Because they had pland over text to meet there after school. And also, last episode ended with Even coming at Isak's door. And when Sana asked if Isak had forgot to do his homework he says yes, but it was because Even was at his house the hole weekend.❤

Elise

And they set up to meet after school at the coffee shop, so Even wasn't stalking him.

Charlotte

Yeah there's no indication that Even is closeted -- for all we know, he could have been out and proud for years. We've never seen him lie about his sexual orientation or pretend to be something other than he is, so we can't really make that assumption.

Jay Aniakor

1. Even is my baby angel, he's got the purest heart! 2. I don't think Even is closeted, I get the feeling he doesn't care much what others think. But after what Isak said to him in the locker room, he feels he is a burden for him, so he tried to keep away. 3. I think, for Isak at this point, the biggest disaster isn't finding out that his baby's dealing with mental illness, but that he's in love for the first time and now it seem to not have been for real. Sonja points out that he's just a symptom... 😭

Charlotte

so when i started watching the show, episode 5 was the episode that JUST came out :)) and that was horrible, we had a break in between....like two or three weeks. So yeah, worst episode to have come into the fandom on...lol. But THEN this episode was the WORST cliffhanger ever.

Angie

Watching everyone not like Even was so painful hahah. You'll have a better understanding of everything from now. It's really interesting to your perspective of this season, it's so different from others. I hope you are enjoying it though. Honestly, if you can rewatch this season you pick up on SO many things. Little details and hidden messages that they've put along the way. It's really well done and so different from the last two seasons. Enjoy the last two eps, can't wait to see them. :)

Kiri

he is not playing with him

Watching this live was devastating. I felt so terrible for the both of them.

True words!

ok last comment I promise, but I wanted to shout out to Marketa for her really insightful comments and perspective, you can tell she pays attention the most, I think it would be beneficial for the rest of you to pay more attention and be a little more sensitive as well, just a suggestion

all I can say is, I hope once this season ends you'll take a look back at some of the comments you made during the reactions, pertaining to Even and mental illness in particular, and see that you've learned something from the experience, see how different your perspective is on the other side. and you'll see why this season means so much to so many people, not only LGBTQ+ people but also those of us with mental illness, and why everyone always hypes it so much, and why this was the season that made Skam world-famous.

what do you guys think about references? "Prinsesse Vivian" - "Romeo and Juliet" - proposing from alkony- white Tesla limo? or in the kitchen- "I didn`t know what you like, so I made a lot of food" - what movies you think it is? If you remember, Even is interesting in films and direkting films...

OlHa

guys... Even hasn't been manic the whole time he's known Isak. His manic episode basically just started on that Friday, or maybe was getting there a few days before

watching that back is one of the most heartbreaking moments of the whole show

Yes exactly what I've been thinking also!!!😅

Elise

this is one of the reasons i love this season, the mental illness representation 🙌

Victoria

lmao the reaction you guys are having is so completely different to what I think most people were thinking, even with the first watch... I wasn't really mad at Even, I was like... confused? I was like, what's he playing at? because I knew they would be perfect together, so I was like what's this deal with Sonja? just drop it?????

"should we turn down this song?" NO IT'S 5 FINE FROKNER BITCHHHH

That last clip was shot and edited and acted so well - from them rising higher in the elevator as High for This played/paralleled with Even's manic episode, from the way the last few minutes had the stretches of black. I actually have rewatched season 3 so many times I've lost count, but this particular ending of episode 8 I skip almost every time. It's just done so realistically but so damn hard to watch. Also, I'd go back and listen to the end credits song if you ever get the chance! Lots of easter eggs this season.

they even prefer WILLIAM over Even at the start of this lol

Even's behaviour in the past episodes now should make a lot more sense: when everything was going good and he had left his girlfriend and was ready to introduce Isak to his parents, Isak said (talking about his mother) something like "I'm better off without mentally ill people in my life". You don't notice at first of course, but rewatching the scene knowing what you know now you can see something changing in Even's face at that moment. That's why he back down after that, not because he's a player, but because Isak literally spelled it out for him that he didn't want a person like him in his life.

omggg yes and when isak posted the hotel view on his instagram story before the clip dropped and we all were losing our shit

lili

Can you imagine how heartwrecking it was to se this masterpiece in real time? For two whole months we where riding an emotional rollercoaster - 24/7. I could neither eat nor sleep and refreshed the Skam website day and night. I'm so sorry that you're not able to read all the text messages the caracters sendt to each other, and se all their Instagram posts (you can probably find them on tumbl). It gave us lots of information and an extra dimension to the story/characters. We also got the opportunity to know a little about their thoughts, and what they did between the clips. For example, Even sent this text message to Isak a few minutes before he met him at the cafe, before they went to the hotel: "❤️🐬☀️🍆💯" and Isak sent a message to Eskild after he talked to Sonja, saying that everything had gone to hell. Enjoy the rest of the season. Love your reactions!

pelipeli

Where do they watch skam?

Kataleesi

I don't think it's anything like that, he probably just isn't the type of person that knows how to properly deal with it, that doesn't mean anything against people with mental illnesses. We're just as deserving as anyone else, but like everyone else, we have to find the right person for us. ❤

Jordon

god its so sad looking back and remembering the talk isak and even had in the locker room where he said “my life is better without mentally ill people around me” after everything that happened in this episode... evens face :(

lili

It makes me sad that Cris has been where Isak is ( dating a bipolar person ) and he said he still would run away from a relationship with them, I guess it's fair, it is his experience but it makes me feel like if not all people with MI are worthy of a normal relationship :(

I hate that they hate Even. He's an angel. I understand why, but still. Poor baby.

Adele

Good job at piecing it together as it was happening. I think I had only worked out that something was wrong but not what it was when I first watched it. And if you rewatch it you'll definitely find clues and hints to a whole bunch of things, this show is really good at weaving it throughout the story. Really looking forward to next week!

Jordon

Question, does watching reactions to Skam fall under sadism or masochism? Surely it’s one or the other. I love this episode. Watching this live was mindblowing. Henriks (Even) performance is so good, I got chills when first watching it and had to pause it because it freaked me out.

Sandra

You missed the song playing at the end of the episode ... But good catch with Isak’s mum.

Ann

Cant wait for next weeks episode, and your reactions to the last scene...
