Academy Q&A and wait list

I've had so much interest in the Academy, and I'm conscious I haven't really given you much info - and that's because I'm still working on it behind the scenes.

So here are a few answers to your questions that may help, and at the end is a link where you can add your details to show your interest in becoming a founding member :)

Why are you creating the Academy? I love Patreon, but the user experience is frustrating. There's no logical way of navigating and I spend a lot of my time trouble shooting trying to guide people to where they want to be. I want you to have full functionality, close captions on every video etc. But mostly I want to be able to help you develop your own work, and with the Patreon platform it's just not possible to be able to format things and make it easy for you to know where to start and what you need to do to progress.

Will the Academy replace Patreon? No - it will not be a replacement, although those on the the top two tiers will automatically move across with no change to the payments you're already paying, and no change to the service you currently get other than it will be a much better user experience and having loads of extra benefits. The only thing that will change is the amount of critiques I do each month - I will cap the time to 2 hours - which is longer than currently so hopefully it won't make a difference. Those on the top tier will have exactly the same service with your one to one each month.

What will the benefit to me be if I join the Academy? The benefits are ten fold - you want to learn to improve and develop your drawing skills? All the info is already in my videos - but unless you have 10-30 hours each month to listen to everything then you're going to miss things. So I'm breaking everything down into smaller bite sized chunks, integrating the most amazing software called Searchie that enables you to search through every video using key words so you can watch exactly what you need to watch without scrolling through to find those useful nuggets of information. I'll also be doing more live streams, of course art club, live streams specifically for beginners and some confidence and self belief coaching sessions, plus more Q&As spaced throughout the month that are shorter that you can just pop in and listen to - or of course listen back as the videos will automatically be uploaded via searchie as soon as they're done. Also some quick hi how are you live streams with a little more insight into my life as an artist, mum and crazy dog parent lol! I'm launching phase 1 to begin with for 'how to do it' as in how to draw with coloured pencils, phases 2 and 3 will follow - how to be it and how to live it :)

How much will it cost? For anyone who wants to join from Patreon once I launch (there will be a cut off date) it will cost £20 a month and that is capped regardless of whether I up the prices in the future. You will be my founding members and anyone who joins after the cut off date will pay a higher price - probably £25-£30. There will also be an option to pay annually with a discount.

What if I don't want to join and am happy with Patreon? That's absolutely fine, the £10 and £5 tiers will remain exactly as they are on Patreon with the same service. The discord service may well close however as I want to centralise everything, but that hasn't yet been decided.

I have paid an annual fee for Patreon, how will I move across? If you're on the £20 tier I envisage you moving across with no change and just receiving a log in and password, if you're coming from one of the £10 or £5 tiers then you would just pay the difference for the time you have left on your annual membership.

When will the Academy launch? My thoughts are it will be around September/October - I had wanted it to be July but the work I'm putting into things is taking a while as It's all totally fresh new content.

I'm sure you'll have more questions, these aren't set in stone above, this is just how I'm currently thinking. You will also have access to my brand new Foundations course if you want to complete it, it will be part of the membership. This will be amazing for beginners as it's going to take you through all the basics in short video tutorials, will be certificated and once finished and your work submitted you'll gain a digital sticker you can share on your social media - BSAA - Bonny Snowdon Academy Approved 🤩 There will also be the Formula for Success development measuring tool that I'm working on so you are clear in what steps you need to make and achieve to enable you to develop to the next level.
