Black Cat - Colourfix Smooth Black - Part 1

Sorry about the wait! I tried to upload all in one video and it just didn't want to render it.

▶️  Try not to touch the surface of the paper - it marks easily - use glassine or a paper towel under your hand at all times

▶️  Don't put the whiskers in at the beginning! I've added a note to the video, but they go in much much better right at the end.

▶️  Image, line art and materials guide below

▶️  I've used Colorfix Smooth Black paper for this one - it's abrasive, but not like sand paper, doesn't take a huge amount of layers, but takes the pencil very very well - very soft pressure needed. https://www.jacksonsart.com/art-spectrum-colourfix-smooth-pastel-paper-50x70cm-deep-black

▶️  The recording does show the intensity of the paper - it is very black

▶️  Size I used an A4 sheet, it's 25cm ears to grass and 15cm base of the cat (not including the head).

▶️  Image Pixabay - feel free to sell, print, put on a duvet - whatever you want - please credit me for the tutorial

▶️  Tips for photographing your finished piece - daylight - have something white in the view finder of your camera, use the white to set your tonal values - and that will darken up your black.

Thank you Bonny which paper do you use in all of your tutorials are you able to add it in? I am using black stonehedge cold press paper is this a good choice which do you suggest? Thank you Anna

I"m going to try this one too, as the first pet portriat I've attemped on black paper. Funny, I did a pet portrait for a client last year, and as a surprise her Mom, had the pet portrait printed on a duvet . I was quite flattered to see that they loved it so much that they did that, including my signature too.
