White Fur Focus Tutorial
Added 2019-06-02 11:05:03 +0000 UTCI love doing these little focus tutorials, they're short and you learn so much about the type of hair or fur we're drawing. This month it's white hair, taken from a photo of my lovely girl Slipper. The piece is only about 4x3" so not big at all and took me just over 3 hours.
Patience is key with fur like this - and setting yourself expectations as this one really does look pretty grim for quite a while!
I've used a lot of the studios due to their gorgeous subtle qualities, if you want to substitute them for polychromos or luminance then do so, just use a much lighter pressure.
You'll also be using scotch tape and the slice tool in this tutorial, you can use a knife if you prefer.
Pastelmat board again is the support in white, if you're using the white card/paper then you may just need a few more layers, or you can add an initial layer over the entire area of something like a luminance buff titanium, with quite firm pressure just to squash a bit of the tooth down.
Everything on this video can be done on smooth paper, the only thing I would be careful with would be the scotch tape and slice tool - make sure you test first before using them.
