This is a cropped area of fur of the dog I'm using for my up and coming workshops. He will also be the focus of tutorials in May.
I thought it would be a fun exercise to pick out the colours you would use to create this fur, and maybe have a go at visualising and putting into words how you'd tackle this. It's a close up, so you'd probably not have this much detail in such a large area if you were creating a portrait, but just spending time looking at colours, having a think about what you'd use and how you'd start it is a great way to start any portrait . Also what colour paper would you use for something like this?
There's no right or wrong answer, it's just good to look at things like this and figure out what you'd do if you were drawing it.
I get quite giddy when I see fur like this! I'd be interested to see as well what breed of dog you think he is.
Have a go, leave your thoughts ☺️
