The subject of lightfastness...

She's relatively local, and wanted to see the piece in person before I had it framed etc. The subject of lightfastness came up, so I thought I'd share here what we discussed.
I told her all about the pencils I use, and why I use them, explaining about the tests the pencils go through - the blue wool scale etc and I suggested that if she could afford it the Anti UV glass would be an excellent choice of glass to use as it will go some way to protect the piece against fading.
We also discussed whereabouts in her home she would be hanging the piece - because I'd already visited her to take photos I kind of knew where she would be hanging it. It is a relatively light room, so I discussed choosing a wall that didn't have strong direct sunlight.
So she has opted to have the UV glass - once I've got a price for her - and she's shared some examples of frames. She's also having some prints done, and I'm hoping to give you a glimpse of where I have my prints created and hopefully the process from scanning to printing the final pieces.
Tomorrow I'll be taking the portrait to be framed, and I'll video our process of choosing the frame options, so you can see what suggestions my framer comes up with and why.
I love having my pieces framed before they go on to their homes - it just makes them complete almost, and for the client to be able to hang their portrait straight onto the wall is fabulous - plus I know that it's safe behind glass!!
