I am falling more and more in love with the Derwent Lightfast pencils. On pastelmat once you get a few layers down they blend just amazingly and you can get really really dark darks. This ones little toes were fab to draw - dead easy - put all the shadow shapes in first and then just build up the colours. Thereโs no real detail yet they look quite effective. And the key to getting realistic legs is to ensure you get the shading right - Iโve used caput mortuum with dark indigo for the lighter bits and then blended very gently with the warm grey lightfast, Iโve also used the luminance ultramarine violet on the paler bits of her legs to give that almost light purple colour. Making a start on the big hairy dog in the middle now - her mouth is going to be a challenge as she teeth that look like pegs ๐
