Added 2019-05-09 13:38:03 +0000 UTCI've been working on a very difficult script that is meant to be a sort of video essay of my best argument against the Abrahamic religions. I consider it a defeater of the apologists who claim that God's morally sufficient reasons for causing or allowing what seems like unnecessary evil and suffering:
1. Might be impossible to know from our limited human perspective and...
2. Could interfere with our free will.
My argument shows how both are wrong. For #1, I show how God's end game is clearly written in the bible, so we CAN judge if the end justifies the means, even if we don't know individual reasons for individual events. And For #2, I show how the end result, a net negative (according to Jesus most people will be destroyed), is a direct result of God's choice - not human choice - as we cannot choose to believe or disbelieve, but God could've chosen to create a world conducive to convincing more people. Even requiring belief to survive, in and of itself, is a rule chosen by God in the bible.
Of course there's much more to it than this summary. I try to paint a picture using supervillains, the trolley problem, etc.
My biggest problems right now deal with improving my wording and figuring out what kind of visuals should accompany my speech.
I've also thought of incorporating it into a script for a cartoon, but I was thinking that maybe I should do something different this time, experiment. Suggestions are always welcome.
