Just a heads up...
Added 2020-07-23 19:59:36 +0000 UTCHey lovely ones,
I've heard through the grapevine that a few "nsfw" accounts on Patreon have been suspended. Now, it appears most of those had Oh So Naughty pics going on and that was the issue. But it appears the same thing that happened with Tumblr is an issue with Patreon -- basically, US cc companies don't want to be associated with smut. What prudes. Smut makes us happy. Well, I guess not *them*.
While I feel it is unlikely I'll have issues due to not having pics, most of my content isn't public, etc, etc... be aware that I do have the website - www.SpokenByElswyth.com and, if any issues should arise, I'll likely just shift over there. I've waffled with it a few times, considering using the premium content feature that WordPress has to offer. I'm just a bit of lazy ass webmistress and don't want to maintain two "homes". Plus, I really like the private discourse we have here.
If one of my amazing followers has wordpress knowledge to share, or suggestions, let me know. I'm quite familiar with the basics and with some coding (I had it in my head I wanted to learn programming -- before realising I definitely did NOT want to program).
I'm also curious how y'all would feel about the shift if it becomes obvious it needs to happen. One issue I see is with billing. Currently it is done via Patreon showing up as the company. Currently, on the website, it shows up at "SbE Subscription".
Anyway, I'm not making any drastic changes at this moment. Simply making you aware of what rumors have been floating about on Patreon land. I have no desire to swap to a different platform, I'd rather use my domain if this happens to become an issue.
And.. here's my workspace for those who have been curious!

I will! I did a great course on udemy and quite enjoyed the content and puzzling out things, but it felt a bit like Uni chemistry. I got it while doing it... did NOT get it while NOT doing it. Ha. I also went through FreeCodeCamp a while back and I think that's a friendly way to explore.

2020-07-25 17:54:13 +0000 UTCThe one on bottom is a Leuchtturm1917 dotted journal. It was supposed to be a bullet journal, but the pages are terrible for ghosting. I keep a list of sessions in it (public and private). The pink one is my about-to-be-retired BuJo, the moba-life and SbE quickly filled it up as the pandemic swung into gear. The other is cork covered and being set up as my Aug2020+ BuJo. I try to change colours with journals to make it easier to archive. For instance, my pink one has my notes from "What the Buddha Taught" (and an entire page devoted to SPH) I have a yellow one around here with a beat sheet for my first NaNoWriMo win.

2020-07-25 17:39:22 +0000 UTCYeah... I think I'd rather just head onto the SpokenByElswyth.com domain. I use stripe quite a bit already for freelance writing and that is who WP uses for billing.

2020-07-25 07:46:39 +0000 UTCI have seen hypnodommes fighting with payment systems. It has always been trouble. I don't expect too much trouble for your sort of content. They are enough creators here also doing femdom hypnosis. Everything beyond Patreon will be much more trouble (and higher fees). For me, Patreon is a system I trust. I would like to encourage (in this phase of your business) to focus on content creation and trust that you will find a solution. As long as your website or your Youtube Channel or your podcast exist, you can us very simply redirect to a new home, should you ever need it. We will find you.

2020-07-24 12:56:18 +0000 UTCI felt what you said about learning programming, although I've had more of an "on again off again" relationship with that. I prefer to spare the comment section from a dozen paragraphs, so you can message me if you're curious, Mistress.

2020-07-23 23:07:56 +0000 UTCYes, unfortunately that pops up on the radar once in a while. At least until now, Patreon has mostly left audio and written smut alone. As far as I understand, online smut is a complex ecosystem because of the companies operating the paying systems. I've heard something about the main ones being hostile to any sexy thing while the ones that tolerate smut tend to take a way higher share of the pie. Wouldn't you have the same risk with the SbE website as the base of operations? Being flagged as smut and losing access to the paying system? Or would it be too small to raise any flags?

2020-07-23 21:35:31 +0000 UTCDearest Mistress , of course we would search you out and follow you wherever you lead us . I agree 100% about prudes and yes i miss what Tumblr was . I really don't think you would lose any of us loyals . I also think your content is cerebral enough to be left alone by censors .

2020-07-23 20:47:21 +0000 UTCI don't know. I have a feeling that I'm unlikely to attract any attention by Patreon at this stage. I do like the ring of mesmeris/zing (darn US/UK spellings), but I feel it doesn't fit my vanilla content. And, honestly, I quite enjoy having the vanilla content like getting over Imposter Syndrome and such. I've seen where they do allow you to alter a site to meet their "requirements", so I'm guessing if I get a strongly worded letter that I'll be able to shift the content. If not, at least everyone knows where to find/reach me!

2020-07-23 20:31:09 +0000 UTCThe beautiful thing with Wordpress is that there is almost always a plug-in for that. Of course, then there’s the whole “would I rather spend money or would I rather spend time” argument. I guess the biggest question would be in how you plan to set up subscriptions and access on your site to emulate the function that Patreon serves if you did need to migrate this over there... I probably just brought more questions to the table than answers... 😅

2020-07-23 20:29:08 +0000 UTCDo you think that it will help to stop hypnotizing and start mesmerizing instead?
