Hardware and marine supply stores are excellent for ropes and lines and chains as well, but self-bondage that can be taken seriously carries a significant level of not-so-manageable risk. And i'm an expert at knots and splices and rigging. (Sailor, climber, and fisherman) I haven't noticed any bondage centered hypnosis sessions yet. Do you have any recordings like that yet?

One wonderful hardware store thud in my memory came from a 3 foot section of textured black hose from Home Depot; it had a thick wall and was maybe an inch in diameter. The impact felt as if it carried right through me...my "nice noises" seemed to reach catharsis very quickly indeed with that...innocuous irrigation hose of all things.

My first take would be paddle brushes - popular in many shops - or even cutting boards/cheese boards. I'm averse to using my hands for spankings because I don't like to hurt myself. I have a diy rope flogger and thought it might thud due to the number of strands and.. well.. nope, it doesn't. It does inspire nice noises from the willing participant!

i just noticed a brief comment (like 5 lines) a couple posts back about improvised implements that included Your thoughts about "thud". Come to think of it, finding a thuddy surrogate may not be an easy proposition. A fly rod section turned out to be creative enough, but not worthy enough for a thud. A thud IS different...there CAN be a rhythm to thuddy...and GREAT thuddy can be so much more as i recall...the feeling can last a longer time...to me, thuddy feels warm, deep, and comforting. It has a reverberation and it's own separate time-space continuum. i have cried hard from thuddy, it was a joyful sensation of flight that emerged from deep place... Coming from a different place than "in the moment" pain. It was nearly two decades ago and i'm going all warm fuzzy and jello writing about it. :-) A thud is special. Unique. Exceptional. Personal. Conversely, cane-like materials are all around. And there's seems no shortage of things that smack or sting whether we're in a forest or the local Home Depot (or the B&Q). i bought a bamboo back scratcher at a CVS (because i was in need of one and it was 99 cents) and it plain sucks at scratching, but the backside is super stingy; easy to find. Too easy to find. A no effort discovery is worth neither. For that matter, scratchy isn't hard to find or modify either. But thuddy seems, in vanilla world, quite elusive indeed. my sense is that thuddy is like a perfect cast, or swing, or tack...That moment or series of moments of "no mind" for both the "thudder" and "thuddee" that doesn't come around that often. So, maybe then, sourcing the right surrogate implement should be at least as much of a challenge? Thank you Mistress.

And of fishers of things...Your earlier reference in regard to "vegan fishing", et al, it seems that some of we humans have an innate curiosity and need to discover what lies or swims or lives beneath the water's surface. We have Google Earth to partially satiate our sense for discovery of what exists beyond the visible horizon at the surface, but nothing of that under the surface, or up close and hands on. However, the places where humans and water commonly intersect...like bridges over and along rivers have an undiscovered closeness that somehow attract fishers of magnets, or flies, or minnows, or obsessive fly tiers turning over rocks in the streams to see what new pattern to tie next. Whether the bridge provides ease of access to the river below or a place to find with a magnet something that resulted from ease of disposal, it seems to be about the discovery. It has nearly always surprised me to see what is right in front of me that i wouldn't have seen otherwise.

A while back, I had a friend "improvise" for a cane using a curtain blind rod - one of those twirler things - and .. wow.. yeah, they do a LOT and whip. Personally, I think you can get more out of a thud. It is easier for most submissives/masochists to get into a rhythm and build an endurance up to it. It just doesn't seem to produce the same yummy sounds from the participant.

I live in a city but we have a lot of green space and rivers in the heart of it. There is a gentleman that often goes fly fishing in section of the river that I visit with my doggo and I love watching him. It seems like every tv/movie trope is the person getting hooked by a fly... so I think that adds to the suspense. ;) I grew up with boating and bobber fishing, with some carp/catfish thrown in for funsies. I also took an outdoor education class in high school as my elective (other choice was volleyball and I'm short). We had to tie a few flies in the class and the teacher was MAJORLY into it, so he was fascinating to listen to when he talked about finding the materials, types of insects to recreate, etc. I've seen "vegan fishing" (or something like that) has spiked in popularity, but due to the amount of people finding guns or explosive things I think it has been banned in my area! It is done with magnets and quite interesting to see what people pick up!

As to whether i am a fly-fishing type, yes i am. Even in my early years, as a wee lad, i found cast and wait far too passive (and boring). i started with a spinning rod with lures for bass and other warm water fish, converting to trout and salmon with a fly rod as soon as i could drive myself to decent waters. i grew up in New England, but a lot of decent trout water required more than bicycle transport. i prefer catch and release (fishing version of leave no trace;-) and find fishing enjoyable if all i bring home is the feeling of a perfect fly cast. It is intriguing that for me, "it's more about the experiences...or sensations than the catch". Didn't know that until now either. Thank You again, Mistress.

Thank You, Mistress for both of your replies! i was surprised when i noticed the message in my inbox this morning...being concerned about the content and possible impact on my concentration level at work today, i delayed reading them until this evening. Not my most brilliant plan; i kept thinking about what you had written ALL day. ;-) It was certainly worth the wait and the anticipation made the day an adventure as well. The marks (welts and redness) initially, faded. Fortunately, the welts have been replaced by quite nice bruises...woohoo!!! And they hurt to the touch! Even better! Fortunately, inner thighs are not too obvious in a vanilla world. The fly rod impact didn't look like anything that intense, but apparently something that transfers energy well to 40 feet of fly line, transfers energy just as efficiently in "other " ways too. Who knew?

In a very naughty world, I'd happily have a cam on someone while they simply listened to a session. It would be interesting to watch them, alone, and see how their body reacts. In person, it is easy to know when to linger on a certain section, etc, but for these sessions it is just seeing what hits the sweet spot -- which I learn by feedback. I've only seen HFO in person through TENS play. I saw it on a video and knew I had to get someone irl to try it out. Thankfully, I have volunteers at the ready! I was quite surprised that it actually works. I even shared the video I made of it with others in a pervy show & tell kind of way, mostly because I never expected it to actually be enough.

Marks fading quickly always make me sad as well. Though I do realise some folks can't run around with marks on them.. I know if *I* am the one placing them, I like for it to stay. I also don't seem to ever find folks who bruise easily. There's no evidence leftover of my sadistic pleasures. Perhaps I should see the "leaves no trace" as a type of skill, similar to hiking -- enjoying the scenery and what the place (person) has to offer and leaving it in the same state I found it? Glad you enjoyed it. You definitely win for creative substitutes! Are you a fly-fishing type or regular ol' cast and wait?

alas, i kept listening (in a more private place) with one tool as instructed and two surrogates; a ping pong paddle for the hairbrush and the tip of a fiberglass fishing rod for the "twig". WOW!!! again, and again, and again. Now that the session is over, i miss the sensations so much already. i wish the marks weren't fading so quickly. However they stayed visible enough for the background of a photo of the token... (figuring out how to post it :) Thank you Mistress Elswyth for such a wonderful afternoon.

Continued... And then last night, late, i listened to the June Token session. Completely new to this experience, initially i thought i had missed something in the joining process about a "token". As a result of the June Token session, i chose a Canadian "Twonie" as our token. Today, a short while ago, i decided to listen to the Sensations session. i was especially intrigued by the tools listed in the description. At the start of my listening, i heard the "mind is still, still, still..." phrase and nearly orgasmed. i went from pressing "play" to trance to HFO-almost in the space of 5 words. WOW!!! is all i can come up with to describe the sensation.

paul

Hello Mistress, i joined a day or so ago and have listened to a couple via YouTube before joining. Your voice is wonderful, calming yet mischievous. Other than the sensations i have felt during a guided meditation, which are very nice, i didn't notice any significant effects...
