I don't know if it was the heat, but my PC is definitely dying. Constant blue screens when rendering. I can still render for ca 1 hour, which means I can sort of render videos in bits and pieces.
I'm not really sure what to do. I have been saving for a new high end render PC towards the end of the year, since this one had been giving me lots of trouble, fying two SSDs and crashing every now and then, but now it's starting to really cut into my work efficiency.
I don't really want to buy a new one now, when the new CPUs are out in 4 months.
Luckily, it only really crashes during rendering (though it doesn't overheat), so I can still edit and prepare footage.
Not sure what the best course of action is. Buy a new one now or somehow hold out 4 months and maybe render clips with less fx for a while and then post upgraded versions? I still have backlog for about 2 months, so there's no risk of running out of material anytime soon. Even if I wanted to go over those with effects a bit more.
On that note, I just updated last week's Absence of Light video with a version I rendered in several steps. The last version was incomplete. Now it's the way it was intended to.
I'm thinking of doing some kind of growth drive for this, now that growth scenes are possible. Any girls you'd want to see in that?
