ENTERING THE CDC, LEARNING ABOUT TEST SUBJECT 19 AND THE LOCKDOWN! Wow this season went out with a bang...literally lmao. Firstly, a flashback scene is revealed of Sheriff officer Shane trying to escape the zombie invaded hospital with Rick but because Rick was on a life support machine, he couldn't just take him out so he decides to leave him behind but securing his door so no walkers get in for the safety of his partner. In the present, Rick and the other survivors enter the CDC after Dr. Edwin Jenner opens the entrance and tells them that if they wish to stay in then they need to get blood tests. Jenner tests everyone's blood to check if they're infected and shows them the facilities inside the CDC. The survivors enjoy the luxuries offered at the CDC and enjoy wine together whilst Jenner informs them that all the other doctors are dead whilst he decided to stay inside the CDC. During the time at the CDC, a drunk Shane sexually assaults Lori about their affair although Lori blames him for telling her that Rick was dead which leads to Lori attacking him out of self defence although a drunk Shane reveals to her that he really did think Rick was dead as there was no way for him to leave that hospital alive.
Then, Jenner shows the survivors the brain activity of an infected person called test subject 19 and the scan reveals the brain activity transitioning from a normal human's brain activity to a walker's brain activity. Jenner informs them that the human brain processes memories and can think but a walker's brain is almost completely shut down with only one little spark of brain activity that gives them their violent impulses and completely removes their human traits. Andrea continues to mourn her recent sister's death and believes there is no hope. The survivors ask Jenner more questions including Dale asking what the countdown is for. Jenner initially reveals that it's a countdown to the amount of fuel that the CDC has which prompts Rick and the other survivors to check the engine room. The doors then shut unsettling the survivors demanding answers as to what Jenner is doing who reveals that he stayed behind for his wife who is test subject 19, she hoped there would be a cure which is why he stayed behind to work on one but to no luck. Jenner then reveals that the CDC will enter into a self destruct mode once the countdown ends so Daryl and Shane impulsively try to break the door down and Shane furiously aims a gun at Jenner's head demanding for him to open the door. Rick tries to calm Shane down and tells Jenner that there is still hope and that they don't want to die now. Eventually, Jenner opens the door allowing the survivors to escape before the countdown goes to zero. However, Andrea and Jacqui decide to stay with Jenner inside the CDC believing that they'd rather have a quick death than to be infected like the walkers but Dale stays behind with Andrea. However, Andrea doesn't want him to die with her so she decides last minute to leave with him. At the entrance, Rick destroys the glass with a grenade allowing the survivors to escape on time. Andrea and Dale manage to leave before the whole CDC erupts into a massive explosion. Rest in peace to Jenner and Jacqui.
