THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 1 REVIEW

Hey guys, I just reacted to episode 6 (the last episode) of The Walking Dead Season 1 which I will post tonight and I have got to say it left at a big bang...lol pun intended. I'm definitely going to continue watching this but in my own time. Here's a review of my thoughts on season 1 but please, DON'T give me any spoilers about the next few seasons.

Firstly, I've really enjoyed reacting to the first season because I love the suspenseful plot and I love the fact that I like most of the characters including the main character himself Rick otherwise it would've been difficult to watch if I didn't like any of the characters. I love that Rick is such a good leader, he really knows how to get everyone to work together and he's so optimistic which may seem delusional but to me, I don't see it as delusional I do think there can be a cure still out there for the walker virus. I also love how nice he is to his friends, family and acquaintances and he's such a morally righteous man which are great qualities to have as a leader of the survivors group. Although, I am sad that we didn't get a chance to see more of Amy as I thought she was quite interesting, I loved the sisterly bond between Andrea and Amy but I guess it would be more realistic for a few of the survivors to die like Amy and Jim considering it's a zombie apocalypse. Other characters I really liked are Glenn, T-Dog and Andrea and it's interesting how distinct and uncivilised Daryl is to everyone else's personalities but I do hope that he becomes less aggressive in future seasons for the sake of making more rational decisions since he acts out of impulse. Also, Shane's annoying me now with his constant interference in Rick and Lori's marriage like GTFO you're betraying your friend...

Secondly, I like the fusion of the plot and character development of the characters as we got to learn at least something from almost every character whilst they tried to survive from the zombie apocalypse. I loved how high-tech the CDC facility looked but am really sad that it got blown up and now that Jenner is dead, is there anyone else out there who is working on a cure?....no spoilers please. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Rick waking up to a zombie apocalypse and not knowing what on earth happened whilst he was still in a coma, it just creates suspense and a sense of mystery of the unknown. I also loved his meeting and friendship with Morgan and his son and I hope they all reunite in season 2.

Regarding the walkers, I felt at times that the violence was exaggerated in terms of how much gore there was and the insanely inhumane killings that happened like chopping walkers to death. For example, episode 2 was the grossest when it came to its graphic content of the survivors using a walkers' organs to mask their human scent which actually worked (for a while) but the idea is still extremely gross and strange to even think of an idea like that...However, overall I loved their strategies of how to escape from the zombies like Glenn's strategy of obtaining the guns before the walkers got to him. In episode 6, it was very interesting to learn the process of an infected human's brain from them being a human to them turning into a walker and how their brain shuts down completely as a walker, I kinda guessed that would be the case but to see the brain scans was interesting and quite shocking to learn just how infectious the disease/virus is.

Also, what I expect in the next season is a reunion between Rick and Morgan because it's been a long time, also perhaps there can be a cure that can cure those that are bitten at least (but that's highly unlikely...) and more awesome character development. However, I really DON'T want to see any more of Shane trying to get in between Rick and Lori, it's seriously pissing me off that he tries so hard to get Lori when she's a married woman... I get that they BOTH started the affair together but she eventually made it clear with him that she wants to be with Rick. P.S I love the scenes she has with Rick, it's sweet even though I feel bad for Rick since he still doesn't know what she did even though the affair's ended now.
