Game Lore - Ather Balls

Humans and Tiers existed in relative peace to each other, at least when it came to the domesticated ones. Ather Balls were created in the midst of the war when soldiers needed to start utilizing a variety of Tiers but couldn't realistically have half a dozen of them follow the soldier into battle.
Of course, there's more to their story and why the balls are used now and, of course, the crystals themselves. But for now, the crystals are what's used to capture Tiers and make the bonding process easier.
