Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace EPISODE 5 - REACTION

- I mean, you're at almost 700 subscribers already. I don't think 1000 is entirely outside of the realm of possibility. - Dude Jimin, don't hurt yourself like this! - Get Away and Attitude aren't songs I would've thought to combine with this kind of concept but the end result is not bad at all. - I think you'll be happy to hear that the original Get Away sounds almost exactly like this. Just as heavy. They really didn't do much to change the arrangement. - Certainly a step up from their previous round, both in concept and performance. - Jaeyun asks a valid question. What DOES this concept have to do with these songs? I'll put more of my thoughts about all this in my ranking below. - A certain show we watched recently has twisted my understanding of what Alice in Wonderland stands for a bit - I really like this. Powerful, yet still upbeat. - DAMN that dance break. - And now Hyuk is literally shining with all that glitter. - I saw Oneus in concert last year and I can confirm, No Diggity is INSANE live. - The little text blurb about the supposed message of the song is funny. โ€žDo what you want to doโ€œ Nah, have you guys actually paid attention to the lyrics? It's more like โ€žThe girl is mine, fuck off and cry about itโ€œ ๐Ÿ‘บ - I am ashamed to admit that I haven't watched a single Mad Max movie and I need to change that. - I get a feeling I already know which one's gonna be your favourite in this round - The crazy bastards did it. They made No Diggity MORE intense. My personal ranking of the performances from round 2: 7. The CrewOne Great performance but it's the one that left me with the most questions. Mostly, how do these two (very intense) songs go together with a Harry Potter concept? I'm generally not really fond of doing HP concepts at all these days, considering the horrible person that is the author behind the IP. At least the magic tricks were cool. About the songs themselves, I was hoping for them to actually properly mash them up. But they basically just did Attitude, then Get Away afterwards, separately. With only a very short proper mashup section at the very end. Bit of wasted potential imo. Overall this was very good but I have some nitpicks and I think the other 6 teams did even better. 6. Younite As was mentioned in the episode itself, it's hard to win in a competition like this with a fresh and upbeat song. But I think they nailed it! I like the storytelling aspect and how everything explodes into a big festival towards the end. Waterfall is just generally not one of my favourite songs from Younite, which is why this ranks a bit lower. Also, while I admire that they went in this direction (and they did debut with a very cute concept, so this makes perfect sense), I think they actually do the dark and intense stuff even better. 5. Cravity I don't know why this performance doesn't quite hit for me personally. All the pieces are there. Set design, storytelling, performance, a great song. But the other four just did more for me. This is entirely a me problem. Cravity did amazing and on an objective level, I can 100% recognise that. 4. Tempest Now THIS is how you do it. Such a perfect execution of the upbeat fresh concept. Everything about this just makes me super happy. The Alice in Wonderland concept is a perfect fit for these songs. As a fan of Tempest since debut, this is such a good reprensentation of their identity. 3. 8Turn Okay, 8Turn has stopped playing around. This is a real statement to open up round 2. I love the Egyptian theme and the whole storytelling they got going on. It's so cool. And it also fits the sound of the song itself so well. I have no complaints whatsoever. 2. Oneus I might be biased. It's a bit light on story but there's one thing they do better than every other team. You mention it yourself: audience interaction. They really know how to work a crowd. Combine that with this arrangement of one of the most intense songs in kpop and you got the recipe for a winner right there. 1. The New Six I'll admit it, 80% of this is how they rearranged the song. Holy shit, the Swan Lake arrangement is incredible. If we just take it by how the songs were rearranged, TNX wins this round by a landslide. The set design is admittedly simple but they really got everything out of it. Finding every way to use a ladder in choreography. But what gets me the most, is how this thing crescendos. It just builds and builds to an insane explosion of intense music and performance at the end. I love every second of this and I'm fucking FURIOUS that they got eliminated here. - I believe The New Six made a mistake by dressing their aces almost the same as the rest of the team. Visually, they didn't stand out, so the audience might not always have been aware of who exactly the aces were. If they had just dressed them a bit differently, that might have already helped their ace ranking. - But last place in the TEAM ranking this round? That doesn't make any sense. - Two very different styles of performance in the ace battle here. In isolation, my vote would go to The CrewOne. This martial arts partner dance was really impressive. - But in the grand scheme of things, TNX really should not have been eliminated here. Hell, they shouldn't even have been a part of this ace battle in the first place. Their actual rounds were way too good for that. - Yes, Choi Young-jun and Back Koo-young are exactly these two dance coaches you know from various other shows. - I'm honestly a bit worried about the future of The New Six. Very shortly after this elimination, Kyungjun announced that he has left the group and will enlist in the military soon. TNX is to continue as 5 members.
