Early Access - Spotlight Episode 13 - IZ*ONE - La Vie en Rose / Violeta / FIESTA / Secret Story of the Swan

With all of the craziness of SKZ and Jimin tomorrow I wanted to record the IZ*ONE reaction a bit earlier than usual, so why not release it earlier as well?! 😁

Early Access - Spotlight Episode 13 - IZ*ONE - La Vie en Rose / Violeta / FIESTA / Secret Story of the Swan

I understand you Crispy chiken at that time there was an overabundance of GG and I was seriously starting to overdose on groups like Twice that I had to leave aside for a long time. I was also a big fan of Gfriend, Oh my girl, Dreamcatcher, Fromis 9 and the arrival of the 4th gen did not impress me. apart from Everglow and Gidle I found this start of the generation not very promising. and as I didn't like ITZY I was looking for THE group that could make me take the 4th generation train. and when IZ*ONE arrived it was like with I.O.I or Fromis 9 I fell under the spell instantly. I stopped following KPOP comebacks during 2018 and I started again with IZ*ONE since the 4th gen has accumulated an insane number of GG that I love (PURPLE KISS, WOO!AH, IVE, LESSERAFIM, STAYC, AESPA, NEW JEANS, VIVIZ, EVERGLOW, (G)IDLE and those are just the groups I follow the most but there are others.

So, what have these girls been doing since IZ*ONE's disbandment in April 2021: #1: Jang Wonyoung needs no explanations. Redebuted in IVE, hugely successful, global star, touring the world, saw her live just over a month ago, just all around amazing. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/for_everyoung10 #2: Miyawaki Sakura technically did return to HKT48 but basically only to almost immediately announce her graduation, which occurred in June 2021, just two months after IZ*ONE's disbandment. A huge graduation concert was held in Fukuoka on June 19th. Then she went back to Korea, signed a contract with Source Music under Hybe and became part of LE SSERAFIM in May 2022. The rest is history. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/39saku_chan #3: Jo Yuri debuted solo in October 2021 and has been on a steady grind of amazing releases. If I can only recommend one of her songs, her most recent comeback TAXI would be great for a first reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpGFolbbeHo Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zo__glasss #4: Choi Yena debuted solo in January 2022. You actually missed her most recent comeback DNA and I know you'd LOVE that song. It goes even harder in the rock direction than Good Morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trYdczp82ZE Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yena.jigumina #5: An Yujin redebuted in IVE together with Wonyoung. Not much to add here 😁 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_yujin_an #6: Yabuki Nako returned to HKT48 where she promptly got the center position in Totsuzen Do love me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvpImgDOtoY She graduated with a big concert ceremony in April 2023 and has shifted her career towards acting since then. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/75_yabuki #7: Kwon Eunbi debuted solo in August 2021 with a song called Door. However, the song I really want to recommend to you is her first comeback Glitch. Door was quite jazzy and Glitch was the song where she found that EDM club banger sound she's known for. INSANE outro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enSvdtEutuw Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/silver_rain.__ #8: Kang Hyewon released a Christmas EP in December 2022: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnb05ffLNPA But apart from that, she's been focusing more on her acting career, so far starring in three dramas since 2022. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hyemhyemu #9: Honda Hitomi returned to AKB48 and stayed there the longest out of the Japanese IZ*ONE members. She only graduated about half a year ago. Since then she's been working as a model. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/10_hitomi_06 #10: Kim Chaewon moved from Woolim over to Source Music and debuted as the leader of LE SSERAFIM. You know the rest :D Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_chaechae_1 #11: Kim Minju left Urban Works in September 2022 and signed with Management SOOP to work as an actress. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/minn.__.ju #12: Lee Chaeyeon debuted solo in October 2022. You actually have yet to check out her most recent comeback called Don't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDUUniN4rXc Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chaestival_

yes Marcel that's why guys like me started to be big fans of IVE and Lesserafim. at the very beginning it was really as WIZONE to support Yujin, Wonyoung, Sakura and Chaewon. I also of course supported Yena, Eunbi, Yuri and Chaeyeon in all their activities. but since then I have been fans of IVE and Lesserafim for all their members. and I don't force it very much, their songs are really good overall. but there is always a part of me that regrets the IZ*ONE period because this group really had the possibility of being one of the greatest GGs in history on the same level as Twice.

Man, listening to these songs now after having finally seen PD48 hits so different. I get it now. Why people were so desperately trying to keep them together. IZ*ONE was really something quite special. Fiesta sounds familiar to you because it was covered on Girls Planet 999 :)

I almost missed this one (maybe I didn't get the notification or it may have gotten bundled up. Easy to miss something with all these releases and what not, am I right? πŸ˜‰) Like I mentioned before, I actually had never watched Produce 48 before. And even though I did like IZ-ONE's songs, for some reason it was never enough for me to go check them out. It was also early in my k-pop obse... admiration years, and maybe I couldn't handle another girlgroup besides Twice, G-Friend and Oh My Girl πŸ˜… Then they had to disband, and I do remember the aftermath: everywhere ppl were so upset, absolutely heartbroken, trying to do whatever they could to prevent it from happening or come up with an alternative solution. It was as if a significant piece of K-Pop had died. Seriously. Sort of like a mourning period. To this day, people will still get emotional seeing/hearing/being reminded of them. But, because I had no real affinity with IZ-ONE, I didn't really get it tbh. Until G-Friend's sudden disbandment that is 😭 I guess you have to experience it to really get it. It's like you're being robbed. Anyway, everytime I listen to these songs they get better and better. They are amazing. If you're ever gonna do a part 2, I would recommend: - Secret of the Swan dance/performance video. It's enchanting (<- this is actually a word I would often associate with IZ-ONE). - Weekly Idol appearance(s). Because I hadn't watched Produce 48, I wasn't familiar with a lot of them. But after Yujin's imitation of like a snotty face on Weekly Idol, I never forgot her πŸ˜… - any variety content really

-Hyewon also had the role of Mom or big sister in the group. she was generally much calmer and more composed than the other members. I think it contributed to this general balance that I found fascinating with this group. - La vie en rose was a very good debut song and it was exactly the concept that I expected to see I think that the IZ*ONE agency was right to be honest if we were to compare the MV's of IZ*ONE and those of TWICE there are a lot of similarities. It is certain that if IZ*ONE had been designed to last over the long term, they would be one of the biggest female groups today. - Violeta yes the visuals are very pure but also very chic, the sets, the clothes, the accessories are very chic and very expensive and this is the case in all the Korean MV's of IZ*ONE. their choreography is always very elaborate, and in their first 2 mv's the flowers are very prominent. to rightly represent purity. yes DG you noticed a very common thing in IZ*ONE songs their last chorus are always big slaps of real vocal flight. - Fiesta the MV is very similar to that of Panorama and once again the choreography and vocals are incredible. frankly at the time if we were just talking about dance only LOONA and WJSN could compete with IZ*ONE for me because their choreography was so inspired. -Secret story of the swan they're best title tracks and they're best MV to me everything is just perfect i love the song, the choreo, the concept, the outfit everything. the chorus is epic, the rap part and the Chaeyeon/Yena dance break is epic, the Yujin/Hitomi duet is epic, Chaeyeon's solo dance break in the water is epic, the bridge is incredible I can't say how many I have listened to this song probably hundreds of times. this comeback was incredible and the showcase they did at the time was incredible. -DG I suggest you watch their performance film of secret story of the swan. you will see IZ*ONE at their peak this performance is just incredible. on your time you also watch their live performance the showcase of their comeback for secret story of the sawn is the best.

- yes, what journey they have been through, and seeing that more than half of the group is still ultra active and popular delights me. it was my disappointment after I.O.I because only SOMI, CHUNGHA and SEJEONG really had success after the group disbanded. but I think the girls of IZ*ONE still have a long year ahead of them. -yes DG I also said it several times they could have easily made a 2nd group with the girls from the top 20 who remained. or do like NCT and do 3 or 4 units with the girls from the top 20. -we often talk about the Korean members of IZ*ONE who have great success nowadays in their respective groups or activities but Nako and Hitomi also have a very good career in Japan Hitomi was recently graduated from AKB48 and I regret not see them more. At the time when HYBE was looking to set up their first girl group there were rumors that the agency had approached several members of IZ*ONE, like Chaewon, Sakura or Hitomi and I was very happy to see that Sakura and Chaewon was going to be part of the group and disappointed that Hitomi was absent I wasn't worried about Yujin and Wonyoung because we knew that Starship was going to release a new girl group and that they were part of it. for Yena as she was part of Yuehua I expected her to join Everglow, it wouldn't be the first time that a member joined a group several months after their debut and they were quite close to Shi-hyun and Yiren . but the agency made her debut solo and I think it was a good idea. Eunbi, Yuri and Chaeyeon have also started solo careers and not too bad. only Hyewon and Minju did not make their re-debut because they are more actresses or models than idols and this journey suits them better I think. even if they had their full place in IZ*ONE and they made big progress in 2 and a half years. - for me this group is perfect, they have one of the best dance lines I have seen with very sophisticated and very syncro choreography, they have a concept that I like a little chic, very good vocalists (yuri, Nako, Eunbi , Chaewon , Chaeyeon , Yujin , Yena) a very good general balance, a good distribution of lyrics and they have one of the most beautiful visual lines that I have seen in a big group. -Kwon Eunbi is a very good leader. It is not easy to lead a large group like that. I think it takes a strong personality and great self-sacrifice. She is also an excellent singer and dancer. - Lee Chaeyeon she is known as a main dancer but she was also the second leader of the group the girls living in the same building but in 2 different apartments Eunbi managed one apartment and Chaeyeon the other. - Wonyoung the center of the group and Maknae super adored by the members I can no longer count Wonyoung's memorable moments in the various reality shows and vlogs made by the group. - Yena the all rounder and the mood maker Yena would have been very good in all positions in IZ*ONE Yena had the role of rapper or singer she was also sometimes part of the dance line on dance breaks. -Yuri the vocal lead of the group and the third member of JO-YURIZ Yena/Chaewon/Yuri DG you know the relationship between Yena and Chaewon and well you can add Yuri into the equation these 3 had the same physical resemblance as well than in their personality. -Nako probably another very good singer and the cutest member of the group she was responsible for all the cute aspect of IZ*ONE she often stole Wonyoung's role because she was so cute. -Yujin all rounder also with a voice that became more powerful with time I think she is one of the members of IZ*ONE who has evolved a lot, at the time she was one of the youngest and trouble makers of IZ* ONE these pranks with Yena are very well known. -Sakura the 2nd center or the face of the group I can't explain how proud I was to see her in IZ*ONE. once again many think that she does not have a beautiful voice or that she does not dance well enough but she has an aura, charisma and an indisputable stage presence which makes her an exceptional idol - Minju I didn't see her in the group at the beginning but she brought an innocence and an undeniable freshness, she was often the target of the other members because her innocence and her naivety put her in incongruous situations. but she was very fond of the members giving her the nickname "Minjugato" because she was incredibly clumsy. but on stage she shone, she was perfect for this slightly chic and innocent concept. - Hitomi the Japanese member who grew the most, she was already a good dancer in Produce 48 among the Japanese during her career in IZ*ONE she became a fantastic dancer, and she also brought a very cute aspect to the group.
