kuni is like 8 months here so he is capable of crawling around

More notes if you're interested in the thought process:

I want to keep characters in my AUs as close to their canon counterparts as possible and retain or adapt important parts of their personalities so in the essence they stay the same.

So I was like ‘how do I make scara scara’ because his estrangement is a large part of him and ei is directly linked to it. If I make scaramouche a wanted and planned child in eimiko family, the unintentional neglect from ei and distance from yae kind of don’t make sense (or I’d just have to make ei a very shitty mother).

In canon scara’s existence is also closely connected to makoto’s demise. In my mind at least making him makoto’s kid is a better solution. Neither ei nor miko were prepared to take care of a child, and suddenly there’s a huge responsibility falling on their shoulders and on top of that, ei also has to deal with the loss of her sister, hence her desire to shut herself out from the outside world. She is not inherently cruel, she is grieving, but she does want a good life for kuni
