Flower Of Evil Episode 1 - REACTION

**Please Note** - I originally reacted to the episode on Netflix but OBS didn't record the episode itself so I had to synch up the video manually, the episode I was online didn't include the intro, which I originally also reacted to but had to cut out.

Plus the reason why I suddenly decided to react to a 2nd Kdrama is included in the intro :)

no I don't think my comment contains spoilers, I'm just recounting what is said by certain characters in the episodes. and pick up on the reference to Dexter made by Daniel. Moreover, I saw this series when it came out, which was quite a long time ago, and I only remember the main lines of the storyline. I forgot a lot of things. If my post contains a spoiler it's minor and unintentional and if Snax wants to delete my post because he sees a direct spoiler, well no worries for me.

fabrice maire

If that is the case then please Fabrice consider deleting the comment, I haven't looked as I only saw Snax's reply but just in case someone's watching this and hasn't seen the show yet, I'd feel terrible if parts of it were spoiled.

this comment contains spoilers or hints towards spoilers. i would delete it

bingo DG she reminds you of Nayoung because it's her. -clearly the beginning of the series and this episode does everything to put you in doubt. The series will revolve around this question is Inspector Jiwon's husband a man with secrets or is he the supposed missing serial killer who killed 7 people. If so, what games does he play? -if he is a serial killer like Dexter he has actually learned to feign empathy. he has learned all the social codes and as he says himself, he only says what his wife wants to hear. but obviously he does not have the same morality as Dexter who, despite everything, was content to only kill criminals. and people who became too dangerous for him. but all this seems too easy and too fast this series will be rich in twists and turns.

I haven't watched all of the episodes so it will be fun watching it all with you

Oh my God?? Dude! This is my second favourite Kdrama right after Vincenzo! SO happy you're getting into this! I never would've expected you to just do two dramas at the same time but LET'S GO! And right off the bat, pay attention to the actors. You'll see a pretty familiar face in this show ;) - So in opposition to most Kdramas, here the romantic couple is already married at the start of the show. And they have a daughter! - What loving grandparents. - Boy, it's WILD to rewatch the dinner scene with the full knowledge about everything. Buckle up, Daniel, you're in for a ride. - This really is the show of „amazing“ parents. - The police officer who looks familiar to you is the same actor as the owner of Geumga Plaza in Vincenzo. - There's absolutely nothing wrong with our family. There is no war in Ba Sing Se. - „She reminded me of Stone-Face Nayoung from PD101 for a second there“ Well yes, it'd be weird if she didn't because that literally IS Im Nayoung :D - Yes, these are certainly the „legal“ ways of investigation the supervisor talked about 👍🏻 - Moo-jin knows some stuff about our MC 👀 - The lengths some people go to to cheat on their partners. You get why I was constantly yelling about this show, don't you? And it's funny how I'm also watching Death Note right now which also has the serial killer being directly related to a police officer and this constant battle of wits between L trying to find out if Light is the killer and Light doing everything to outsmart L. Of course Flower of Evil is quite different in many aspects but it's a neat coincidence that I'm now watching these two shows at the same time :D

The male detective was in Vincenzo I believe he was the building owner. He's almost unrecognizable here. At least I didn't recognize him until someone else pointed it out. My guy! That IS Stone Faced Nayoung :) It's going to be weird rewatching this now that I've seen produce 101. You figured it out by the end but the grandparents are Cha Jiwon's in-laws. Man what awful people they would have to be to treat their own flesh and blood that way. I can at least understand that they don't like the person their son married. Baek Eunha is so cute. She's probably the cutest child actor in a kdrama that I've watched. Just to try and help with the names Baek Hee Seung is like Baek(as in Baekhyun) Hee(as in he/him) Seung(as in he sung a song). aka. Do Hyun Soo Do(as in Do Ray Mi Fa So La) Hyun(also in Baekhyun :)) Soo(as in sue like you're legally suing someone also rhymes with you) There are 2 separate cases that reporter Kim Moojin talked about in this episode. The Yeonju serial murders and then the Yeonju village foreman/village head. Sometimes people assume they're one and the same since they both have Yeonju in the name. The joke with Cha Jiwon and Kim Moojin was that she was using honorifics when speaking to him as if he was older when in fact she's the older one and he should be using honorifics. I'm sure you got it but I don't think the subtitles were clear. I love this show. This is my favorite first episode of a kdrama the opening and the meeting with the grandparents intrigued me immediately and the ending got me hooked and I had to find out what happened next right away. It's wild that their home is on the second floor of his workshop. So he kept his prisoner in the basement of his house with his wife and child upstairs. What if they hear Moojin making a ruckus in the basement. I also loved how Do Hyun Soo asked Moojin if he had a family that would miss him or a job that would expect him to be in the office the next day before attacking him. By the end of the episode you understand why his parents don't like that he's married to a detective. Also it's so sad that Baek Hee Seung asked his mom to call his wife and tell her to never see them again and her only response is please don't tell my husband about this because it would make him sad. :( With the case of the week I like how it in someway reflected on the main characters relationship. A happily married family with no problems whatsoever and the wife is willing taking the pills in order to keep pretending that everything is okay. You were kinda onto something with that real life case but this time the mistress wanted to get rid of the wife so that they could have custody of In Seo. I liked how both the detectives were kind of right. Cha Jiwon definitely has better bedside manner than detective Choi Jae-Seop(I had to look up the characters name on IMDB since I forgot and I just realized he was in another show I saw recently and again I didn't recognize him. Jeez he really just disappears into a character. Otherwise I'm just dumb) I'm glad that you're liking it so far. I wanted to watch you react to this to hear your theory's about what's going on. If you don't have time to react to this every week I'll understand. I'm just so happy that you're reacting to this since I doubt it would have ever won a poll. I loved this reaction more than usual :) thanks again for checking out Flower of Evil!

ok Flower of Evil and uncanny counter. frankly my contribution to your Patreon Daniel is more than profitable for me I have a great time on your reaction which has 90% of the shows that I recommend HyEMILEEYECHAEPA, Produce 101 and 48, Apartment 404, Uncanny counter, Wanteez and Fiding SKZ all these shows that I love. this drama is one of the 3 Korean thrillers that I prefer, it is not at the level of Mouse for me but it is still very good.

fabrice maire

Oh my God! I'm so excited! What a surprise! I really hope you enjoy it! Hopefully I didn't overhype the show too much to make you take on the extra burden of reacting to 2 kdramas at once. Oh man I'm so excited! Staying up until 4am to watch this right now!

Jared Mathews

OMG, i love "Flower Of Evil". I will watch it again here with you.
