KARD COVERING BLACKPINK'S 'SHUTDOWN' AT KCON 2023 - REACTION

KARD COVERING BLACKPINK'S 'SHUTDOWN' AT KCON 2023 - REACTION

Comments

Yeah the wide shot was unnecessary, BUT... that's kinda how it feels sitting in the balconies. I always appreciated when K-POP artists use large, flashy and bright choreo and visuals. If it's too dark and/or intricate (great for camera) the peeps further back need to stare at the screens or guess who of those tiny persons is who. Special shout out to PSY and TWICE who are great and entertaining everyone all the way to the back wall.

I just watched your reaction to the last GG episode and this back to back. Its good to have you back and to see you om screen in good at least physical health. I hope this can indeed help you get your mind of things for as far as thats even possible. Im a casual BP listener but always loved Shutdown so to see my ults cover it and do so amazing was truly a gift. Im not so surpised it fits them tbh. I think that style wise and they way they cary themselves on stage there are quite some similarities getween the group. I would actualy love to see BP covee a Kard song! Like Icky, Gunshot, Dumb Litty. As for other performances from Kcon I would love to see you react to...big surprise. KARD. Haha. They did Icky and Cake. Yes the Cake choreo in Saudi Arabia. And they killes both songs and the crows truly loved them and cheered loud. Saudi Hiddenkard came trough!

I loved this cover by Kard! Also EL7Z UP covered Pink Venom at the mcountdown in France! I wonder if mnet asked both groups to cover a Blackpink song or it was just a coincidence.

I agree with how expressive they are. They didn't do much but still packed a punch. It also goes to show that they don't need revealing clothes or "shocking" gestures or lyrics (all probably prohibited in Saudi Arabia) to be sexy, powerful and/or engaging. I agree that this song fits them, but I also think a lot of songs will fit them. If you think about it, if they cover a girlgroup song, it almost always has a rap in it, and KARD can always let the guys do that which instantly makes it sound fresh / their own / and probably more powerful. If they cover a boygroup song they have the girls sing boy parts which will instantly make it sound fresh / their own. React to more K-Con stages? Even though Dreamcatcher performed there (and they are always worth my time), I don't think there were standout performances. The M Countdown stages in France were more interesting imo. Yes, EL7ZUP performed Pink Venom there (and Dreamcatcher also performed there). If you are looking for other BP covers, Dreamcatcher covered Kill This Love at KPop Flex in Frankfurt last year: https://youtu.be/5OS_TkwDhoo?si=WgVKNua0iu3Ny1Mf

That was very cool. I love KARD and no clue that had covered this!

Star Dust

This was a really good cover. Like you said, they kept the essence of the song but added their own style to it. I love to see covers like this, and not just of BP songs, because it, yet again, puts the lie to all of the fan fights. These groups are all music lovers, and they appreciate a good song regardless of who did it or what company they're with, etc. Plus, it's natural for newer groups to look up to their seniors and admire them. BP is an example for them of how to do it right - 7 years in the spotlight and not a single ACTUAL scandal and massive success without becoming big-headed or sloppy or entitled. I have to say that I was having a dull morning, but when I saw the shot of the fans going crazy for KARD it put a smile on my face. Seeing people having the time of their lives is always uplifting for me. This was wholesome, actually.

One that I would say is REALLY worth seeing is PSY at Mcountdown in France. This is his entire performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwdr13TLT5Y It's only 17 minutes long because he only performed three songs (That That, Daddy and Gangnam Style) but man, he put EVERYTHING into those three songs.

Hell yeah! And speaking of Good Girls covering Blackpink, EL7Z UP just covered Pink Venom at Mcountdown in France: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZNfv8z4tuw Watching a full festival is probably too much right now, I fully understand. But if you ever decide that you do want to do those, I got links ready for a whole bunch of Kcons and other Kpop festivals. Full shows. Just let me know.
