im exited to rewatch this with you. i watched the show a year ago. season 2 comes out november 2024 (some shows take a long long time) the first time i actually watched the dup, the german version. and then with the original one. when shows are on netflix i often watch the german version. but often i also watch the original like english or korean (when i watch a drama) last time i also saw the gameshow squid game. which is exactly like squid game, but obv nobody dies.

Some history about Squid Game. Director Hwang revealed that he devised the plot behind Squid Game back in 2008 and wrote the script a year later, however the show wasn't made until 12 years later after being rejected by several studios due to its "bizarre" concept. Speaking to The Korea Times, the director said: "But after about 12 years, the world has changed into a place where such peculiar, violent survival stories are actually welcomed. "People commented on how the series is relevant to real life. Sadly, the world has changed in that direction. The series' games that participants go crazy over align with people's desires to hit the jackpot with things like cryptocurrency, real estate and stocks. So many people have been able to empathize with the story." He added that he knew Squid Game would either be "a masterpiece or a quirky flop".

Heads up - this show is a Netflix Original, so there will be no censorship or blurring things out, it's also quite explicit compared to the other K-Dramas you watched ๐Ÿ‘€You watched Train to Busan so you recognized Gong Yoo, he's actually quite a popular Korean actor, as is the guy who plays the main character. Actually, after Squid Game all the actors in it became popular ๐Ÿ˜… I can't wait to rewatch the show with you again and be all sorts of messed up... Again. As for watching the shows you'd like to watch, rather than just watching something people hyped up, maybe you could actually look at trailers/synopsis of a show to see if it interests you. I'm not sure if you've been made aware yet, but soon, a new K-Drama will air (Worst of Evil) where BIBI has a support role ๐Ÿซฃ

Yeah I've seen some article talking about late 24 early 25, maybe it was a typo in another article where it said Nov/Dec 2023 ๐Ÿ˜…

The most literal survival show possible

- Yes, I'm all for keeping the polls smaller and focused on the shows that most intrigue you ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป - One of the very few dubs that is superior to the Japanese original are the British dubs for the Xenoblade Chronicles series. I could not imagine Shulk without Adam Howden or Noah without Harry McEntire. Squid Game is not one of those shows where the dub is better. And it's live action anyway. I can be lenient with animated shows and video games but live action stuff MUST be watched in the original language. - Gi-hun buddy, if your mother cares more about your granddaughter than you, it might be time to ask yourself why that is. - He gave her like 10 bucks. A very rough conversion is 1000 won = 1 dollar. - Loansharks are such nice and accommodating people :) - If I won an ominous mystery gift in a crane game I'd at least first check what it is before giving it to my daughter. But of course Gi-hun has a way of trying to make it sound good. - I say just go out and try Tteokbokki if you have the chance. I don't really know how to describe it because I can't think of other foods that are similar to it. It's really tasty though! - There are no buttons on most platform screen doors. When they close they close. Gotta keep delays on the subway to a minimum. - Guy got bitchslapped to hell and back for 100 bucks. Nice one. - It's nice that you notice that immediately. Gi-hun is a good person at heart. He's just extraordinarily terrible with money. - Kang Sae-byeok, number 067, played by Jung Ho-yeon. You've actually seen her before! NewJeans Cool With You MV. - Speaking of masks, the band Ghost also has some pretty sick ones. - It's the first game and this show immediately makes it clear that it does not fuck around. I always look forward to reactors getting to this point :D - Old man is enjoying the murder game a bit too much. This is a great show. It was my second Kdrama right after Hotel del Luna and what a stark contrast. I actually binged this whole thing in a single day.

Technically, this is a K-Drama AND a survival show. There went your chance to get a day off ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thereโ€™s actually a real life crime case that happened in korea that is basically similar to this show. I forgot what they called it, but there was some secret organization that was kidnapping people who were homeless, poor or orphaned off the streets of SK and taking them to a place where no one could find them for years. These people were forced into hard labor almost like a concentration camp. And they would kidnap anyone from babies to the elderly. I forgot how it got found out, but there were testimonies from a few victims who said they were kidnapped as children. At the time of these testimonies, those people said they were kidnapped as children were like in their mid-late 20โ€™s by then. So that means they were kidnapping people and holding them captive for years. Now idk if the writer for squid game was inspired by this crime, but itโ€™s very eerie to think about that something like this actually happening in the real world. Whoโ€™s to say that itโ€™s not happening right now as we speak?

Lol, that "don't let Miyeon near a casino" brought me back ๐Ÿคฃ

- currency: just remove 3 zeroes. - tteokbokki are cylindrical rice cakes. I don't know why they call them cakes. But they are made of rice and are completely solid. The texture is the most interesting part. They are like chewy gnocchi. The sauce is usually quite spicy. And the other ingredients are usually fish cakes (once again, has nothing to do with cake) and scallions. - yes, yet another major series/film with the actor Gong Yoo (from Train to Busan). He's probably the most, or at least one the most popular korean actors. - since you didn't seem to recognize her (yet), but the girl who stole the money is the "cupid" in New Jeans' Cool With You mv.

- the whole series revolves around a Korean social phenomenon that is all about debt. Betting and gaming rooms are prohibited in South Korea, gamblers are exposed to very heavy sanctions. However, games rooms abound in my country and people in debt are legion. Many companies use debt collectors and while most of them work for the state, some are simply gangsters. the series describes this phenomenon very well even if everything is very exaggerated. - players - Gi-hun is played by Lee jong jae probably one of the 10 best and popular Korean actors he plays in deliver us from evil, along with the god, New world, memories of war, the insurgents etc... - Sae-byeok (the thief) is played by Hoyeon one of the most popular Korean top models DG you could see her in the MV of New jeans "cool with you" -you recognized Gong yoo the main actor of Train to Busan also a very popular actor - Sang-woo (Gi hun's best friend) is played by Park hae soo, another big actor on the circuit, he plays in particular in the hunt, Money heist korea, Kimaira, Narco saint -Ali (the man who helps Gi-hun not to fall) is played by Anupan Tripathi Pakistani actor who has played in some successful dramas like descendant of the sun. - this series will actually undermine our morale at all. how would we have acted in the characters' place, is the organization that "captured" them responsible for their deaths or did they die because of their decisions? Would you have chosen a life of misery and always looked behind you if a creditor was looking for you or would you have taken the risk of losing your life to perhaps gain millions.

yes I think it's the best solution, I've been saying it for a long time, we give you ideas for shows to watch and then you choose 3 or 5 among those that intrigue you the most. This is the best way to not frustrate anyone because the goal is for YOU to watch dramas that interest you. Most of the time we have already seen the dramas that were suggested to you.now you can watch the most popular Netlix korean drama . cool we got a lot of amazing actor in this one

fabrice maire

LOL it's funny to drop YEMILEEYECHAEPA during a squid game reaction . but yes i think DG will enjoy that show i think it's my favorite show from last year with Earth arcade . the all cast is god tiers i can't stop smilling watching this show Hyeri jokes , Yena teasing chaewon , and morning chaewon are so funny .

in fact Korean dramas rarely have several seasons and when this is the case it never goes beyond the third season. moreover the dramas which sometimes have 2 seasons are always shorter than certain dramas which have only one example Uncanny counter has 2 season one of 15 episodes if I remember correctly and one of 8 episodes which makes 23 episodes in total. many dramas in a season exceed 20 or even 30 episodes, for example Gu familly book, Mister sunshine, Korean odysse, Mister stranger etc.... short dramas are often Netflix series, like Squid game or my name

As far as I know, Squid Game Season 2 is scheduled to be released next year, not this year, isn't it?

I'm glad that you watched Train to Busan first so you were able to recognize Gong Yoo's cameo. Anupam is the Indian actor who plays 199 and after this show I saw him on some variety shows and he was super nice and hilarious. I just saw him on another kdrama this year and he was great. I originally wasn't planning on watching this show since it was incredibly popular with audiences who've never heard of kdramas before and just a "real life" plausible way for the hunger games to happen but with adults in crippling debt. But my friend watched the show and really wanted to discuss it so I binged it in a single day when I was supposed to be working :) I did enjoy the show but it's pretty depressing. I'm very excited to see your reactions to this show more than I am to rewatch the show. I assume that everyone who didn't watch it the day it came out got spoiled on the red light green light scene. If I was the main character's daughter I'd be very ashamed of my parent. All she wanted was some chicken which is not expensive and a reasonable request for his budget and he got her tteokbokki. (I'm not sure what exactly it is either as I don't eat Korean food) What I like about Viki is that some shows I watched put the converted currency in the subtitles. Currently 1,000 won is $0.75 although it fluctuates. For shorthand I just take off the 000s to get close enough. So when they say a character is Millions in debt change it to Thousands. So he tipped the cashier $10 and got slapped in the face for $100 and ordered as much tteokbokki as he could get for $1 for his daughters birthday :( I don't have much sympathy for these people as they were introduced to squid game by gambling physical pain for money. They volunteered. They had the rules explained to them and signed the waiver saying if you lose the game you will be ELIMINATED! after getting abducted and drugged by people in creepy masks. I'm not saying that what the squid game people are doing is right or even okay. just that they contestants had so many warnings and red flags and chances to opt out that they got themselves into this mess. After this show came out there were some people saying that they should do this for real but I'm not one of those people. I just think that both parties are at fault. They did a good job in the first episode to try and get you to see that the main character 456(Gi-Hun) has some redeeming qualities like you said but he's still not a likeable guy. If you like squid game but would rather see it played by cute girls I'd recommend HyeMiLeeYeChaePa. That show is also a commentary on societal debt and the consequences of gambling (please nobody let Miyeon near a casino) :) Also after Squid Game is over you should do a reaction to all of the dance practices in Squid Game costumes just for fun :) Loved the reaction as always!

After Squid Game I support your decision to choose whatever show interests you the most. Kdrama's are often at least a 16-20 hour investment of your time so if your going to commit to watching the entire show you really need to be interested in it in the first place. This isn't like a MV reaction where if you end up not enjoying it you only wasted 10 minutes instead of 20 hours. You went into this not knowing much about kdramas but up until now you've received dozens of kdrama recommendations from us so feel free to pick whatever interests you the most or like you said pick a few and do a small poll. Am I biased towards Flower of Evil? Yes, but I supported your decision to watch Vincenzo even though I personally didn't enjoy that show. Also I'm amazed it took this long for Squid Game to win! I hope you enjoy the show!
