gonna hold your hand when i say this but JYP is NOT a good person. hence why got7 ultimately decided to leave him and why JB wanted to be part of another company and why aghasaes (got7 fandom) despise him, his mistreatment caused a wonderful successful group to be completely wiped off the kpop market. i'm pretty sure he also had a controversy about mistreating some of his younger female trainees and involving them in some shady project with adult men or something like that but i unfortunately don't remember the group name. and either way, the mv for hellevator was recorded with 9 people, JYP isn't dumb, he's not gonna tease a new boy group and get ppl all excited just to eliminate members, he KNOWS the fans wouldn't be happy about that and he'd probably get shit for it, it has always been a stunt and that's why the boys themselves aren't big fans of his but they keep a good image with him out of obligation. the reason why JYP is successful is because he's a business man, he knew what he was doing with this show and his other survival shows as well. i don't know why ppl are so hellbent on defending multi millionaire company CEOs, people did that with bang sihyuk as well and now look at all the awful thing that hybe got exposed for. their only motivation is greed, and the cherry on top is that JYP is a zionist on top of it all so there's really no redeeming him. i'm not saying this to be rude, i know some people like to believe that there was a bigger reason for all of this but there wasn't, he simply took advantage of the naivity of the skz kids to reel in views and promote skz more effectively.

I think what most viewers always forget is how harsh the business and real life competition truly is.
When we as viewers connect and root for trainees in shows like these we are most of the time being completely unrealistic in what we want.
We want "everyone" to succeed, all the time.
Behind every successful idol, there stands 10 000+ "failed/eliminated" trainees. While we don't see that on camera, it's what people like JYP have to deal with on a regular basis. What is shocking to viewers to see even ONCE, is daily life in the biggest companies.
We don't even see a smidgen of the actual drama behind the scenes, and squirm in the face of just a little taste.
I'm no different.
I believe that's why people keep coming up with speculation to explain what seems "too cruel" to us, when reality actually is much more cruel.
If it was up to us overly optimistic and naive viewers to run a company, we'd run it into the ground immediately.
Sure those speculation could be true, but what is presented and said in the show could also be true. I believe the latter.
It's not like they were ever supposed to be let go from the company, it was just that he decided they weren't ready YET, and needed more training to become ready, and potentially succeed later on in a different setting.
Like he decided for the entirety of Itzy even in the same show.
Eg that's how Jihyo and Bang Chan also was put through the ringer for 10 and 7 years each. Just no-names working endlessly to perfect their craft for an eternity. Imagine all the people that came and left in that time. These are special people with outerworldly tenacity.
That's what it takes. While JYP isn't a super robot that's always correct about everything, I believe he can't tell better than any of us can. What he's saying often sounds harsh, but I think he honestly believes what he says.
Wow, sorry about the length, I only planned for 2 sentences when I started.

I truly think JPY was playing with the boys emotions all for the sake of drama of the show. Which sucks because you can see how much they care for each other and how much disbelief they were in when a member was eliminated. They even talked about it later on how much everyone cried because they thought they were really eliminated. I think to this day, this show is the reason why Seungmin is always taking petty jabs at JYP and that Changbin's attitude towards JYP for taking advantage of them.

While Minho got eliminated I felt like this was just to get some drama to the show. Even if I wouldn't have known that they debut as 9, it wouldn't have made sense to bring out the mv to hellevator to promote skz and the show. there they were clearly 9. And yeah, they milked it but it's still up to this date bittersweet watching it. I really would have loved to see Minho Ice Skating for example.

As much as I did enjoy the show, watching it back when skz just debuted, it was mostly just a marketing thing. It was pretty clear that skz will always have their debut as 9, show just marketed it with some emotional/drama stuff with eliminations so new fans will connect stronger to the whole group.
Regardless of all that tho I still like rewatching it with your reactions :). Keep up great work!
