I'm done for the day, it's a shut down. Also I just ordered the CD Boxset, never done that before!

As for the song... I'm not sure, I think it's my favourite comeback, I do like the call-backs to their discography, but as a casual listener it still doesn't do it for me.
But I am in mixed minds about this - its BlackPink, so obviously there is always going to be a "shutdown" of haters etc, but in the video Jennie and Lisa shut doors on past MV props/scenes, which makes me think... is it a sign of a new era/sound, as in the outro they go up in an elevator to a new "level". Or is it shutting the past, as in kpop, and they will be doing more of their own individual things.
I believe they all resigned their contracts till 2028, but BlackPink as an overall brand is to valuable to just end, not just for YG but also the girls, soooo 🤷🏻♀️
Kinda been listening to Paganini’s "La Campanella" since

Great song, great seeing you flip from all the references 😅
The violin melody is from La Campanella by Paganini:

They've done clapbacks at the haters before, but this was 100% a right hook to the jaw. When Lisa says that they've got you on a leash, she's talking about the haters - they think that they're dogs, snarling, barking, biting, but BP has them on a leash, controlling their lives - whenever BP does anything, these types become consumed with hating on them and put their lives on hold to do nothing but bark at them. "Keep talking, we shut you down.." - "Nuff said.
To me, the "shut down" was also on their past music - Pink Venom" and now "Shut Down" as well as a few other songs on the album go beyond where they were, and feature a more mature side that seems to throw off worrying about what "fans" might say about being too sexy or forward or mature. They've gone from being the pretty high school girls to being mature women and they are going to unapologetically act like it from now on. There's a couple of other songs on the album that really spell that out.
The style of this one really seems to also be a clapback. The vocals are great, and have meaning, but not complicated. The choreo is simple, but effective. They are doing what they have always done - creating earworms and viral choreo that is accessible to everyone. They get criticized for not going hard with choreo, or not having deep lyrics, but the lyrics do have meaning (if you listen), and the choreo lets everyone join in
And, yeah, they - like I said - seem to be just getting better looking, and better at everything.. That's what great artists do.
