We're well into our next stage of demo adjustments and making the finishing touches to our gigantic first set that is the manor and its many rooms and grounds - but we are MOST excited about our now working Relationship System and how it plays with Free Roam!
It's now fully locked, coded, and ready to go.
This relationship system will carry your decisions through across the episodes, and seasons, as they become available to you through the saves you make. As mentioned in the last Dev Diary - you'll be able to name your saves!
Certain decisions and reactions towards characters individually will carve out your unique pathway, leaning into certain people, leaning away from others (if you wish to), getting second chances, losing chances, and potentially unlocking delicious bonus content during our free roam exploration of the grounds.
We call our main pathway through the storyline the 'Trunk' of the story, but it has many branches that essentially create 'versions' of the trunk story, which lets you zoom in on the conversations and interactions you want to be having.
FREE ROAM
How free roam works in Succession. We are working with the concept of 'actions' to spend during your free roam time, outside of the main trunk of story. In current development, you get three actions to spend your time during that specific free roam segment (how you spend your day or night) to choose where you venture and who you engage with during that time. Bonus content will become available to you (unlocked) in these free roam sections and within main trunk depending on the conversations you have, and the decisions you've made up until that point.
CLOSING A DOOR WITH A LI?
We don't intend to shut off love interests without due cause. But you will have the option to, thanks to our brilliant programmer.
We have programmed in 'hard nos', which means, if you explicitly or aggressively state in-game that you aren't into something, or someone, and it's on our list of hard nos - you won't be propositioned by that person ever again. They won't leave the story, but they won't be chasing you. If you don't like a certain person in the manor, you'll have plenty of opportunities to turn them down without being too final about it - but it will result in rarer occasions with them to change their mind, if you've changed yours. But redemption is always possible for those who look to have it.
NO RAILROADING
We don't have a specific girl for you in mind that you just 'end up with' if you don't make strong choices - that would ruin the fun. Each of them have viable, fleshed out and fun stories that don't get watered down to just focus on merely one or two characters. Some of the ladies you'll meet have higher requirements to please her, but all have their terms and conditions to unlock possibilities of lust, love - and life, with her (or them?).
