Fox(girl)ificated 2 - Ch.12 - (Finally) Making It Official

"If your intention is to continue your current employment," Athene replied in their typical calm level tone, "Then I would suggest you arrange a meeting with your employer's Human Resources department as quickly as possible."

They gestured towards the envelope they'd just handed me as they continued, "Simply show them everything I've just given you, and they should be able to update your employee records immediately."

My tail was still tucked down between my legs as I asked, "What if they don't? Or what if my manager decides to fire me now that I'm a foxgirl?"

Hannah responded, "In that case you've got grounds for a lawsuit. Either based on discrimination, or wrongful dismissal. Or both, depending on how badly they handle things."

"It'll be ok Kit," Luna assured me. She slipped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into a gentle side-hug then added, "I promise."

The beautiful catgirl turned her attention to the others and asked, "Did you two want to join us for dinner again tonight? Kit and I haven't made plans yet."

"No thank you," Athene shook their head. "Hannah and I just stopped by so I could drop off Miss Vaughn's new paperwork."

Despite my ongoing stress about work it still got my tail wagging a bit to hear myself referred to as 'Miss' Vaughn.

Meanwhile the tall redhead nodded in agreement as she and her enbyfriend headed for the door, "You two have a nice evening! And good luck with work, Kit. If you run into problems let us know, we'll do what we can to help you out."

With that the pair of them were gone, and I was alone with Luna. I made a feeble attempt to suggest I should head back to my own place, but it didn't take much for the gorgeous catgirl to convince me to stick around and have dinner with her.

She offered to make something fancy, but she'd already done so much for me I really didn't want her to have to cook as well. So I suggested we could just have last night's leftovers, and she was fine with that.

Then while Luna got that warming up I sat down at the kitchen table and opened up the envelope Athene gave me. My tail was already wagging in anticipation, at the thought of my new ID.

A moment later I was almost purring with euphoria as I stared at my new drivers license and birth certificate. It was now official, I was a girl named Kit. In addition to my new name and gender marker, the license also depicted my new picture and indicated my new height and eye colour too.

The envelope contained two more official-looking documents, one of which purportedly came from MaR-AID. Both of them mentioned my dead-name as well as my new name, but more importantly they linked my old identity to my new one. So I had proof that I really was me, and like Athene said that ought to be enough to get everything else updated.

The food was all ready by that point, so I quickly stuffed everything back in the envelope for now. Then I gathered up my plate and followed the gorgeous catgirl into the living-room, where the two of us sat next to each other while we enjoyed our meals.

"Have you ever thought of moving back to the country?" Luna asked after a minute or two. "Or are you a city girl now?"

I frowned slightly as I thought about that while munching on a bite of spring roll. I definitely enjoyed spending time in the little park near the cafe, I appreciated that little pocket of nature and others like it. I knew that was very different from actually living somewhere rural, but nature was a lot more accessible when you lived closer to it.

On the other hand I doubted I could make it as a farmer, and I wasn't really interested in trying either. There was also a good chance nature would lose its appeal if I was dealing with it all the time. That's part of what made visiting that little park special, it was a break from the usual. I couldn't ignore the convenience of being in the city either. I was able to get by without a car most of the time, and there were ride-shares for when I had no choice.

Back when I was a kid just going to the 'corner store' was a fifteen-minute drive each way. And I couldn't remember ever getting food delivered to our house. Pizza was a rare treat, but my dad still had to drive into town to pick it up himself. I sincerely doubted there'd be anything as exotic as take-out Thai in a small down like that. Although I had to admit things might be different nowadays.

I finally sighed, "It's really hard to say? I was just a kid when I got dumped in an orphanage here in the city, so it's not like I have a lot of experience with rural living. And I'm sure things have changed a lot since then, but from what I remember it was nothing like city life."

"It's not like I could afford to pack up and relocate anyways," I added with a little shrug. "And I have no idea whether or not I'd be able to get a job out there. The only thing I have experience with is repairing power lines and transformers. And I know they have that kind of stuff, but nowhere near as much or as densely packed as it is in a big city. So they'd have a lot less demand for folks like me."

Luna's ears were drooping by the time I was finished. She gave me a sad look as she replied, "I suppose you're right. And maybe I should have asked this first, but do you like living and working in the city? Do you like your job?"

I shrugged again, "I like a lot of the conveniences of being in the city? My apartment's not great, but it's cheap. And almost everything I need's within walking distance, which is good since I can't afford a car."

"As for my job," I paused for a moment before nodding. "Yeah. It's one thing I'm good at, and I like doing it. And like I said the other day, I take the more dangerous assignments because electricity can't hurt me. So I keep my coworkers safe, by doing the jobs that could potentially hurt them."

My ears drooped again at that point, "That doesn't mean I necessarily like the people I work with. Like the guy I'm currently paired-up with, Clayton? He's not exactly the easiest guy in the world to work with..."

I ended up cringing as my voice trailed off. Then I admitted, "I'm really not looking forward to dealing with him tomorrow. Clay's a big fan of 'Capes Crooks and Creeps', and I just know he's going to freak out when he sees me."

"He's not going to try and hurt you, is he?" Luna asked warily.

"Nah," I shook my head. "He's annoying and bull-headed, but I don't think he's violent."

That seemed to put the catgirl's mind at ease, "As long as you're safe then he can freak out all he wants. Just remember his reactions are reflections on him, not you. And don't forget you have friends Kit. Me, Athene, Hannah, Rachel, Talia, and others you haven't even met yet. We're all on your side."

I couldn't help smiling, and my tail started thumping against the back of the sofa as it tried its best to wag. "Thanks Luna. I really appreciate that."

"Thanks for everything in fact," I added a moment later. "I mean it. It's barely been a week since we first met, and it feels like you've..."

My voice trailed off for a moment as I searched for the right words. "You made my life worth living. A week ago I merely existed. Now I feel like I'm actually alive."

Luna gave me another of those heart-melting smiles as she slipped an arm around my shoulders, then pulled me into a side-hug. "You're welcome Kit. I'm glad you're happy. And I'm glad we met, that I got the chance to be part of your life."

I hugged her back, and it wasn't long before we were both purring happily. That lasted a few more blissful minutes, until we finally let go of each other. Then since it seemed we'd both had enough to eat we tidied up and took care of the dishes. I made one more half-hearted attempt to suggest heading home, but folded the moment she asked me to stay.

All my new purchases from this afternoon ended up back in the guest room with the rest of the stuff Athene got me, but I didn't. When it was time for bed I got changed into my new sexy nightgown, then when I emerged from the bathroom I found Luna waiting for me in a cute little black lace teddy.

The beautiful catgirl slipped an arm around me and asked, "Would you like to stay with me tonight Kit?"

I gulped then nodded, "Yes. I think I'd like that a lot."

We were both purring again as she guided me into her bedroom.

The sound of Luna's alarm clock woke me with a start, bright and early Monday morning. And for the first time in ages I was neither groggy or anxious. In fact spending the night in the arms of that gorgeous catgirl resulted in the best, most relaxing sleep I could remember.

That hit me a moment later -- I'd spent the night with Luna. Not just in her home, but in her bed. In her arms. It took all my focus and concentration to keep my tail from trying to wag under the blankets, but nothing could stop the wide happy smile from appearing on my face. And I was purring loud enough to hear it over the noise from the alarm clock.

There was a beautiful content smile on Luna's face too, as she reached over and turned off the alarm. Then she slumped back down and pulled me into a hug as she whispered, "Good morning Kit."

"Good morning Luna," I responded as I cuddled up against her.

That's when the next revelation hit me. Did this mean we were officially girlfriends now? I was pretty sure it did, and that thought got me purring even louder.

Unfortunately that only lasted another minute or so, before my smiles and purrs both faded. No matter how much I wanted to stay right there cuddling in bed with her, I really needed to get ready for work. So after exchanging one last hug and kiss Luna and I both got up.

We took turns in the washroom, then she disappeared back into her bedroom to get dressed while I went into the guest room to do the same. After taking a minute or so to look through my growing collection of shopping bags I settled on a similar outfit to what I'd worn the day before.

Overtop of my bra and panties I went with the same low-cut black jeans and another new t-shirt. Then my black hoodie went on over that, but instead of sneakers I decided to wear the black leather ankle-boots Luna picked out for me yesterday. They had a bit of a heel on them, which did some really nice things for the shape of my legs and behind.

Finally I pulled my new drivers license out of that envelope, and enjoyed another little wave of euphoria as I smiled at it for a moment. Then it went into my wallet, while the old license went into the trash. I tucked the envelope and wallet into my hoodie pockets along with my phone and keys, then headed downstairs to the kitchen where Luna was waiting for me with some juice and toast.

After a quick look at the time I rushed through breakfast before announcing, "I better get going. I need to talk to HR before my shift, but first I need to figure out how to get there from here. Like what bus to take, or if I should be looking for a train."

"We can figure that out later," the catgirl responded. "For today how about we get a ride-share?"

My eyebrows crept up, "We?"

She shrugged, "Sure. That'll get you there on time so you can talk to your HR people, and after dropping you off I'll continue on to the cafe so I can apologize to my manager for disappearing on Saturday."

"Oh," I grimaced. "Good thinking."

Luna made the arrangements, and fifteen minutes later the two of us were on our way into the city in the back of a car. Which turned out for the best, since traffic wasn't great and if I'd opted for the bus I probably would have been late regardless. Instead the ride-share got me to work with almost a half hour to spare before my shift.

I shared another hug and kiss with Luna, then she left with the ride-share while I hurried into the building. I had to use my old employee ID badge to get past the main doors, but fortunately that was an automated card-swipe thing so there weren't any awkward conversations with security guards.

That saved all the awkwardness for the HR department. The first hurdle was not having an appointment, since I hadn't really had time to set one up. So I had to explain things a few times over, first to the receptionist then to a junior HR lady, and finally to one of the senior HR guys. Fortunately none of them gave me a hard time, and actually the guy who ended up taking care of me seemed pretty decent about it.

It still took a while though, for him to go through all my new paperwork and update everything in the main employee database. And it took a few more minutes to get my new badge, since that involved taking another picture. Then there was a special printer followed by a laminator.

The whole process was about thirty minutes, which meant by the time it was done I was technically late for my shift. The other minor setback was it'd take a few days to get new official coveralls in my size, plus I'd have to modify them myself to accommodate my tail. For that matter I still needed to do that for the rest of my new wardrobe too.

In the meantime I'd have to work in my normal clothes, but that was fine. The most important details were already taken care of. According to the Metropolitan Light & Power employee database I was officially a girl named Kit, and I was part fox. And I had my brand-new employee ID badge to prove it.

I clipped that to the front of my hoodie then thanked the HR guy before exiting his office. From there I hurried through the building towards the rear parking area. I didn't bother visiting my locker since I didn't need to get changed, so I just headed straight out the back doors.

When I reached the 'carpool' area my ears angled forward and my tail slowly swayed back and forth behind me while I looked for the van Clay and I were assigned to. I spotted it a moment later, then dashed over and opened the passenger-side door.

"About time you showed up, Spa-" Clayton started to say as he turned towards me.

He cut himself off mid-word, then just stared wide-eyed as I climbed up into the seat next to him. I needed another couple seconds to get my tail sorted out behind me, then I finally leaned out and pulled the door closed.

Once I was comfortable I looked over at my coworker and apologized, "Sorry I'm late. I had to stop by HR this morning, and that took a little longer than I was expecting."

My coworker continued staring at me for another ten or twelve seconds, while his eyes flicked upwards towards my tall fuzzy ears, then downwards to my big floofy tail that I had wrapped around my hip and resting on my lap. From there his attention crept up to linger over my chest for a moment.

"Hi there," he finally responded. "I'm Clayton Collins. Are you a new hire? What happened to Sparky?"

I took a deep breath then pointed at the ID clipped to my hoodie, "Clay it's me. I had to stop at HR to get everything updated. Oh and I'd appreciate if you'd stop calling me Sparky from now on? Please use my new name. I'm Kit now."

By the time I was done my colleague's eyes had bugged out even wider, and his mouth was hanging open. He finally blinked then shook his head, "No fucking way! Dude, it's only been like two days! What the fuck happened to you?!"

"Nothing much," I replied in my best nonchalant tone, despite the way my heart was racing.

I had to suppress a smile though when I added, "I just got a little bit foxgirlificated, that's all."

Hoping this isn't the end but that title drop is definitely feeling like a roll credits moment.
