Art Preview: Sayori Doll Storyline CG

SPOILER WARNING: This art preview article contains spoilers for Sayori's Doll storyline, on the new alternate path. Click the links in the article below if you want to see the full image previews.

Hi, cakes!

Been a good while since I've had any art previews to write, heh. Not that the art production has ever stopped, of course, but lately I've been producing new art for the script practically as soon as it's written so virtually no one had a chance to see the scenes first making the previews even more spoilery than usual. The scene this latest artwork occurs in did make it into last week's early access release though, so I figure it's good to talk about~

So this scene occurs towards the closing stages of Sayori's Doll storyline. Following her disappointing results at the mock exams, Sayori goes to confront Kyou at his home and blames him for her recent lack of focus. All that fooling around with the penlight has left her incredibly distracted. So distracted that she can barely think of anything else but that light and how good it feels entranced by it. Kyou has seriously gotten in her head and she demands he take some responsibility for his role in her failure.

Kyou, however, calls bullshit. He's angry at the accusation considering he's treated Sayori with nothing but respect these past few days and is determined to prove that her recent troubles are all on her. He invokes a verbal trigger he placed in her mind the other day that has her lose all feeling in her legs, then watches as Sayori yelps in surprise and collapses on the floor. A frightened Sayori at first believes this is more evidence of Kyou being an evil manipulator, but he points out that this can only have happened to her if she truly wanted to follow along with his suggestions. Kyou hasn't tricked her; she could stop obeying any time she liked, but she doesn't. And why is that?

Sayori tenses and strains to pick herself up from the floor, but with her legs staying rigidly immobilized she cries in frustration and begrudgingly admits what she's feared all along: Kyou is right. She really DOES want to follow along to his suggestions and takes immense pleasure in doing so. Kyou reasons that this is her brain's way of telling her she needs to chill out big time after all the stress she's been putting herself under. Maybe she should just accept that she needs a serious breather and Kyou is the only one who can help her.

Sayori, with all the evidence laid out, is forced to accept Kyou's framing and allow him to exert even more influence over her confused mind as she accepts his invitation to relax once again...

We'll be seeing this CG in the next early access release, coming towards the end of this month. As I continue to work on this new variant of the Doll path (plus my semi-secret side project), we can expect another CG or two to go along with this branch of the story. Look forward to it!
