Hello again, cheesecakes!
So, for this month's second early access release I've been working hard on getting one of the more requested paths I teased into the game; the one in the villainous route where Kyou attempts a pragmatic path of villainy. Instead of making wholesale changes to his victims, he instead chooses to subtly influence them as a means of achieving his goals so his targets won't suspect a thing... at least, not until it's too late!
Not going to lie, I've struggled with writing this path more than any other. Like, I've talked before about how rough and first drafty some of my writing has felt, but the last few scenes of this in particular were very difficult to put together and need more work, or remaking entirely.
The main problem for me is, while I think the initial concept is excellent, implementing it within the frame of Penlight's story, which is mostly set in and around a school week, and following through to a satisfying conclusion was always a daunting prospect.
While I'm not personally happy with the quality of this, I'm going to release this on schedule for you folks to look over and hopefully find something to enjoy in it~ But I also intend to release a follow up in a few day's time for a couple of reasons. One, to hopefully improve the writing of this route a little more and maybe implement some of the early feedback I get, and second to add some sprite art that I commissioned earlier this week because I really wanted it to go in this month's round of updates.
Oh YEAH, all this text and I haven't talked about the new art yet! So, Sayori gets a CG this time, meaning all three girls now have a CG scene or two in the game. Sayori's is very similar to the one I had done for Nozomi, depicting several similar induction scenes. Hiroko will get one like it too at some point to complete the set.
